Looking at getting a new home PC Which operating System on a PC is best for general use and which is best for gaming???
I would use Windows 2000 or Windows XP. I like XP more, but you will hear a lot of guys bash it. You can make XP look like 2000 if you want also. A few perks of XP: - Firewall - Internet Connection Sharing - Remote Control of your PC
I agree with Sonny...go with XP. If you're buying a new OEM PC, you're going to end up with it anyway (most likely Home Edition). If you're going to roll your own, spend the extra $50 and get the Professional Edition.
Smeg, XP is better for gaming, more games are supported. 2000 is better IMO, but it isn't where you want to go if gaming is your schtick... If you're getting it from the store, XP is more than likely what you'll get. I'm not sure about how it is down in Oz, but around here you just about can't find 2000 installed anymore..
XP is the choice for me. Very stable, have been using it since Feb. and havent had any issues at all.
does everything on xp start up when i boot it up, because it seems like every single program i have on xp seems to boot up like msn messenger, and kazaa. AIM doesnt turn up.
