A simple question, as we have seen lower numbers of people entering the country illegally reported since Trump came into power. If you do support open borders, why? If you think we should control who enters the country, what should we do to reduce illegal immigration?

Do you support a closed border? Where no one gets in or out?

How about I just support smart and efficient immigration policy? There is no such thing as a fully closed border and really no country has a true open border. No country says to itself that they don't want to know under any circumstance who is coming into the country.

Trump has striked some fear that will keep crossings down for a short period of time but they will eventually start coming back to get to their families and to get work. And we are dumb for not giving proper avenues to get the laborers back in the country and getting them to feel free to allow us to track them. Pushing them in the dark is worst case for us, and hurts industries where we need the labor.

Also the job market in Mexico also has bee a factor too which no Trump fan wants to talk about.

    with who?

The whole premise of the OP is off first of all. Mexican immigration dropped under Obama and illegal Mexican immigrants have been leaving well before "Trump came to power" This is just more alt-right spin

Extreme ideal : a complete close or complete open border. Even NK doesn't do that.

Trump should quick build that wall and trap in all of this cheap labor. Damn, I don't want to start paying more for stuff.

We already are controlling who enters the country. The false choice of all or nothing conceals the underlying hope of curtailing the encroachment of Hispanic culture, and keeping Central and East Asians out of management or professional roles.

No. We control illegal immigration by enforcing labor laws and introducing guest worker programs. Having tens of millions of undocumented people roaming the country is unacceptable.

People can argue about how immigration is handled, there are points on both sides.

But anybody that is advocating allowing people to come and go as they please with no oversight is out of their damn mind.

Nobody who is serious, or who matters, is advocating this. That's why I asked what he meant my "open borders".

    Yes

It's the next step in the evolution of society

There are more countries just corporations

Borders and countries developed in different times.

We don't have to band together anymore to fight wars to hold on to natural resources

There are many practical reasons the idea of state is changing

its easy to say you will stop illegal immigrants from entering the United States. But in reality...

I don't support open borders. Everyone coming in and going out should be identified. I'm also fine with having rules and limits on people crossing. If we want to reduce illegal immigration, we need to fix legal immigration, which would probably involve a significant liberalization to allow the low-skill labor the markets demand.

The idea of the United States has had a great run

My question is what is the purpose nowadays of the concept of state or country?

Yes and I understand love for country and democracy

Here's my position. Democracy has won. That's what has been worth dying for but we have won that battle

    Edit:. Really capitalism has won
