I have simmed through 2 games in all series except Houston-St. Louis, to give Castor a chance to change his pitching staff if he so desires. Series as they stand now:

    New York (A) 1 - Texas 1
    Cleveland 0 - Minnesota 2
    Philadelphia 1 - Los Angeles 1
    St. Louis 0 - Houston 1

Doug Mientkiewicz is injured 1-2 weeks.
Gape Kapler is injured 4 weeks.
Matt Morris is injured 2 weeks.

Those are all of the injuries, large or small, to every playoff team. By all means, make adjustments.

    Good luck to all teams.

With Castor's info I was able to move up a few more games.

Astros beat Cardinals 6-4 to go up 2-0. Mike Restovich hit a 3-run homer and added another RBI besides to take player of the game honors.

    Next day:

Indians beat Twins 3-2 to stay alive; that series is at 2-1 Minnesota. Ryan Anderson struck out 15 in 8 innings, allowing both runs and 6 hits. Alex Escobar was a single away from the cycle, going 3-4 with a run scored and a couple of RBI.

Cardinals defeat Astros 3-1; Astros lead the series 2-1. Robert Person threw 7.1 innings of one-run ball, and Eli Marrero was 1-3 with a run and an RBI.

Dodgers knock off Philadelphia 5-4, scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th. Los Angeles is up 2-1. The not-even-rookie-qualified Jimmy Sevigny came on as a pinch hitter for Arrojo and stayed in the game at second base; he was 2-2 with 2 RBI. Preston Wilson hit a solo knock off of Denny Neagle in the 7th to open the scoring for the Dodgers.

I did not do Game 3 of the Rangers-Yankees series because of the injuries to Kapler and Mientkiewicz.

    More to come....

    Man, what in the hell??

The Dodgers (I will not call them the Wakefields) are an eyelash away from eliminating the Phillies??

    Unf*ckingbelievable...

    Every series ended 3-1.

Mike Hampton outdueled Mike Mussina to put the Yankees through.

Minnesota came back on Bartolo Colon and Bob Wickman in the 9th to advance.

Mike Lincoln freaking choked in extra innings and Tim Wakefield blanked the vaunted Phils' offense over 6 in the Dodgers' game 4 victory.

"You should not have beaten me. I had the first move, my play was perfect. The game is flawed."

Houston's Greg Maddux beat Garrett Stephenson, who was a late addition as starter when Bud Smith was scratched prior to game time.. sorry, DHR.. :(

In the LCS, Minnesota and Texas are tied at one apiece with the Rangers taking game 1 and Minnesota grabbing the second. Pedro Astacio is injured and unavailable to pitch for you in game 3, Cat.

Los Angeles is up on Houston 2-1, winning games 1 and 3 behind a solid effort from Odalis Perez in the first game and a 3-run comeback on Billy Wagner in the 9th inning of game 3.

Pedro Astacio is injured for one week.

Chris Burke is day-to-day for 4 days, effectiveness 90%, and has been allowed to play by the game.

Morgan Ensberg is day-to-day for 6 days, effectiveness 95%, and can (I assume) play, although he was taken out of the game in which the injury occured - game 3, NLCS.

Place Padilla in Astacio's place until he is healthy...

Twins vs. Astros in the OOTP World Series. Both teams won in six games. Going to try to upload the playoffs so far by tomorrow afternoon at least.... so I won't give recaps here. Congrats to TheCat and Castor, and also Puedlfor and Dean for making it as far as they did. A big "you suck" goes out to myself, NYK, and DHR. Status quo award for this year goes to Heath.

I guess the 12-1 wipe out was not a fluke after all. A WS win would be nice. I would have the Sim League Triple Crown. A Division2 championship in CM and a FBB championship to go with it woohoo...

I don't know what is more unbelievable: all the underdogs losing or this:

    Monday 10/14/2004 :
Bryan Rekar increases his talent in avoiding hits!
Bryan Rekar increases his talent in avoiding homers!
Bryan Rekar increases his talent in getting strikeouts!

I really had no intentions of re-signing the "king of my AAA team" (a nickname that Zac had come up with one night), but now I feel like I need to re-sign him. However, I am puzzled by this:

    PITCHERS :
    TALENT RATINGS
Name Age Role HITS HOMERS WALKS STRIKEOUT DUR
    N. Neugebauer 24 SP Good Average Good Brilliant D
    A. Rhodes 34 MR Good Good Good Brilliant D
    C. Schilling 37 SP Average Fair Good Good A
    J. Bulger 25 SP Good Fair Average Good D
    R. Choate 29 MR Brilliant Good Fair Average D
    J. Schmidt 31 SP Average Average Fair Average C
    M. Myers 35 MR Good Brilliant Fair Good E
    B. Rekar 32 SP Good Good Good Good C

I would think that Rekar, thanks to his talent increases, would be rated higher than #8 and especially higher than Schilling or Schmidt. I know that talent is different from actual ratings, but Rekar is 32 not in his early to mid 20's. I thought that with his age and talent that he should be rated higher than these other guys.

Does anyone want to try to explain why this is the way it is? Or does anyone know why?

And better yet, this is advice, would you re-sign Rekar if you were me?

Zac, I say that I will probably re-sign Rekar, but it won't be until later on today that I will decide for sure. I'll try to make it into chat, but I am supposedly going to finally get that virus off my machine. If I decide to re-sign Bryan & can't make or miss you in chat, I will post in this thread to re-sign him.

    Thanks.

Rankings do not go by how talented they are. but by what their current ratings are

So if a guy is AAAA and has a 7 in hits he will be listed higher than a BBBB guy that only has a 4 in hits. THat is why Rekar is listed below Schilling.

Well, that is what I thought, but isn't it weird that someone who has all goods like Rekar has now is rated that low despite being 32 and not 20-24.

It is like he is still developing, but I thought that once they reached a certain age, they quit developing.

Manny, let's say Rekar had a 4 rating in "hits" when his talent increased to good. This talent increase did not herald an immediate upward shift in his rating - i.e., his hits rating is still probably 4. I do think he will probably develop into his talent at a relatively rapid pace. But that's just a guess.

But that is sorta unusual, isn't it. The only other time I can remember something like that happening was in the old sim with Adam Eaton.

I'll go ahead and re-sign him, just to keep him around to see if he can move up in my ratings list.

Hopefully, I can catch you in chat tonight, but if not, I'll post in this thread what my initial offer will be.

An old dude having an increase like that is unusual, but being where he is on the ratings report is what would happen every time.

Congrats to Puedlfor for a good series with a team that even he doubted could go this far.

Also, good luck to Castor... even if I lose the World Series, at least Houston will be able to win it. :)

Zac, if you could, try not to sim without me there, or if you need to, try not to go past the first two games. I know I haven't been around too much lately, but I should be there this afternoon, and will return about midnight (have work at 6:30).

By the way, Manny, in the old sim Aaron Sele had a huge talent increase at age 38, if I'm not mistaken.

Wow, two Wild Cards in the WS in the same year. Good luck to both teams, but I'll have to root for the Stros, since they did knock me out in the first round.

I'm getting the feeling that my team is the big playoff "choker" in the new sim. Out of the three "you suck" teams, the Cards are the only one without a title.

E-hem, do I have to say anything at all? I think I should not need too. You got nothing on me!
