Congratulations to, well, me. End-of-season stuff is uploaded so you can check on your tdevs over the course of the playoffs and stuff. I'd like to upload the new season late tonight, so if you've got resignings, please come into chat or post in the designated thread. As far as free agency and the draft, I would dearly love to get that done on Thursday during the day as that is the only day this week that I have no finals. I'd like to have all of the preseason stuff through spring training taken care of on Thursday before I zip up the league file and send it along.
Thursday is not the best time for me, but alas I would like to see things get started. Therefore, the Brewers will email their bids in. And that email has been sent. Zac - let me know by the BBS tomorrow if you haven't received it.
It'll be in #houstonrockets, by the way, Deano. On a serious note, would any of you fellas in the league be able to run it over the summer? And by summer, I mean starting this weekend. You wouldn't have to buy the game, since I or one of the other owners of the game could share a license with you. DV said he could do it if it came down to it, but with him running the other league as well I think it would be a bit demanding. So, you know... "your sim league needs you!" or whatever. Let me know if you're willing. Commishing has its perks, you know. It's pretty easy to cheat, as evidenced by my Series win this year, and it's also pretty easy to screw over people who piss you off; witness the ingenious (if I do say so myself) sabotaging of the old Season 13 file which managed astoundingly well to enrage Nomar, though the clever son of a gun did figure out my nefarious scheme. Fortunately everyone is against Nomar and follows me blindly so nobody believes him. See? It's really a good situation.
I *could* do it and I really would like to do it. In the summer, I don't go to night school, so unless I had work stuff that would keep me over (and that could be a possibility), I would have the time to do it. A couple of caveats though: 1) I am on a cable modem with charter - most of the time that is great; however, it messes up almost every day. Most of you have probably noticed that I will pop out of chat almost every time I am in there. That is because the damn thing will lose connection and have to recalibrate to get connected. I am afraid that I could be updating and I lose connection. I don't know if that would cause the file to get corrupted and then a crash or not, but something to be aware of. 2) There are a lot of things that I know about computers but also a lot of things that I DON'T know such as file transferring, etc. Zac, you will have to have lots of patience, heh, in walking me through on how to transfer the information. 3) If no one takes this on and it falls to me then I will try to sim the 2 weeks at a time like Zac has been doing and I will try to have the update loaded to the site before midnight central time each night. Because of the screwiness of charter (it is down right now at my house because of all these damn thunderstorms), I will always post in this forum, if I have updated or not. Okay, now with that being said, I would prefer someone like Castor, The Cat, DV (if he has time), Rule, or anyone a lot more familiar with this process to do this, but if no one can do it, then I will try.
I am not working this summer so I can also do it. I have a license to both 4 and 5 so I wouldn't need to borrow one. I am also not using all my license for 4 if someone wants to borrow one. I have to find it though. CK
I think it would be great if you run it. Let me know if something happens where you can't run it and then I'll give it a shot.
Ahh, you're good lads, good lads indeed... Castor, do you know what would be the best way to get the zipped-up league file to you when the time comes (email, DCC, et cetera)?
Oh yeah, by the way, can those of you who can make it for free agency on Thursday make it at, say, 1 central? [/hope]
