I'll make the explanation shortlayer profiles are ****ed up, every offensive player is the same, and all pitchers are the same, except with no names, so I can't sort it out. In light of this I have opened the Ark of League Backup to lead us to a glorious revival of the year 2006. Now for all you embittered and jilted FA lovers, this means you get your revenge, or your chance to right the wrongs. Because I don't want this to last forever: FA will be tomorrow night at 9:30 or 10:00 Eastern, depending on which time is better for GMs, hopefully the draft, or at least a large part of it, will be run after that.
Easy for you to say as someone who has not made a trade in eons. You know some of us enjoy retooling our teams AND trying to stay competitive. But forget that **** now.
Forget the posts by me in this thread as they were obviously in frustration. Chalk Kris Benson up as the greatest player that I never had.
Once upon a time, a poster by the name of Manny Ramirez joined a little sim league that used a game called "OOTP". At the time Manny joined, the Padres were considered the best team available. Even after a move to Portland, Manny never could reach the playoffs with that franchise. Now, I have decided to finish what I started....the Cubs are no longer under my control. I am running the Padres now....IV, eat your heart out, baby!
after having thought for a while, and knowing that others will likely change teams as well, I would like to claim the Cleveland Indians as my team for the restart. and with that said, if possible, could you make a couple of changes for me? Place Cliff Floyd and Vladimir Guerrero on the trading block please. Cut the following players: A ball: RF Jesus Vargo, LF James Jordan, 3B John Polston, C Steffen Pellerin, SS Pedro Olivo, CF Tristan Aldridge, 2B Joseph Mejia, SP Berry Harper, MR Carl Arzola, MR Tony Lambeth Send down MR Alex Herrera and MR Tom Cusack to AAA. The latter two items can be done at any time, although I'd prefer it to be done now (if you have time) so it can be easier to evaluate my team after free agency. if you need to wait, I understand. I do, however, need Floyd and Vlad on the trade block because I know a lot of teams make offers during the free agency period. Thanks.
That reminds me... Can you go ahead and place the following Padres on the block: Ryan Klesko, Khalil Greene, Todd Linden, and Brad Baker? Also, I just emailed my bids for FAs. It may not be until 10 CST tomorrow night that I can make it; however, I do need you to tell me ASAP if any of the guys I bid on won't talk.
My beautiful free agents, my beautiful talent increases, my beautiful ratings increases for Luis, Casey, Gerardo, Duncan, Samual, Heppy, Thursty, Brewster, Cesar, Guzman, Evans, Ross, Leatherwood, Padilla, Colyer, Burnsie, Carlos, Caison, Billy, Milly, V-Train, Brophy, and the phenomenal Rey Reyes. It's official, the name "Out Of The Park 4" can now be changed to "Screw You LA 2.0"
Chuck, I have this "crazy friend" who has for some reason or another, kept record of certain players. Players that may or may not reside in California. I don't imagine those would be of much interest, especially with free agency tomorrow. Even in those records contain information (with a three progression plan) which could benefit some of the organizations that may have received inelegant treatment from this slight mishap. Sincerely, The Whining Wakefields
Deano, I hear your pain and frustration, bro. It took me 2 hours to "try to get over" this. I was very ass acting towards Chuck last night and for this, I want to say "Chuck, I'm sorry." It is very rare when you get an offer from a computer team that is so lopsided in your favor like the Benson one. Not having him and Santana in my rotation was devestating to me. As talked about in chat last night, that is the great thing about OOTP is the randomness. Who knows what would happen if I ran the Cubs again? Maybe Mulder re-signs with me and maybe I get another computer offer that has a brilliant pitcher in it or maybe not. But, this is what I like to call "The Third Great Crash" of the sim (there was also another one in the second sim but it happened after the 2004 season, so it was a minor one). Yes, it is not as bad as the first and second ones because we are not having to start over from the beginning, only having to start at the beginning of the 2006 season. But it is getting to the point of expecting something like this would happen. It is just a fact that for all its greatness, OOTP has a flaw that it screws up from time to time. It is just a matter of wondering when it will decide to rear its ugly head. So, as disappointing as it is in losing Kris Benson, Wainwright, Chipper, etc, I am looking forward to running the Padres again. I had been thinking about switching teams anyway, but of course, that was tempered when I started getting some of the new players that I had, albeit temporarily. So, in essence, you are not alone, dean. And I am curious to know what Heath thinks about this. He might be the only one who doesn't know about this (or maybe he does and he just hasn't commented).
The translator is back. Although all mishaps are just that, mishaps, I actually had other conserns yesterday. I guess I now can say "Pudge - the best player I never had, but I do get the chance to better some mistakes I did during the year - I mean Marlins needing to fight to win the division - now come on. Also I luckily (now) did not have any great t-devs this season, so I'm not hurt by this as much as others. But that doesn't mean I don't feel your (you, deano, etc) pain. One thing I did learn yesterday though. Never invite your keyboard over for OJ and crackers.
I may be stepping out for a while. More on this later. I'll be back I just don't know when. Let the computer screw the A's up royally. CK PS. I'll still be on the BBS I just don't have time to put forth an effort to keep up with my OOTP team at the moment.
I am stepping down from the Rangers, in order to return the St. Louis Cardinals to sim greatness. However, this first season I'm just going to be the "GM", I guess you'd say. I'll just monitor trades, with very little lineup activity on my part. Chuck, I know Buck wants to do the deal with the Rangers for Park that was made prior to the 2006 season, and if I were still the Rangers I'd accept it. So, in all fairness, and even though I'm helping a new division rival , I think it should be put through.
Chuck, Can you let me know by 4:30 CST if any of my FA targets refuse to talk to me? You can email me at jfyoung@charter.net to let me know. Thanks.
Well, if its any consolation, Manny. You can obtain Wainwright and Benson once again. Though, you'd have to trade mvp second baseman Roberto Martinez for Adam and sign Kris to a 20+ mill contract, which only an idiot would do. But, this should help for rally time... (=San=Diego=Mandres=)
