It will be Tuesday at 9:00 pm c.s.t. The time is tentative, the day is not. I start 2-a-days on Monday and I have no idea what time I will be home so it may be a little later than that. With that said to make things as smooth as possible please email me any bids that you would like to make. That will help make FA go quicker. I will continue to keep it in the same format as we have been using. I run a day announce signings then I'll PM you where you stand. That means if you plan to make counters you need to be in chat or send a list of starting price and a don't go over this price. Email all bids to castor27@ev1.net . The more I get through email the less I'll have to do before we can get started in chat. But I know I will have at least one to do in chat (and you and I both know who I am talking about ;) )

Sorry, but I feel I have more control over it in chat than with e-mails. :p

I mean control as in: "damn why do they offer more for this guy than he is clearly worth - now I have to pass my max offer by more than I ever dreamed about"

So if I e-mailed stuff to you I would end up sound financially, but not get a single soul signed.

I know this would please most as they would then get to bid for the 14 guys I usually steal, but I like getting players :p

On the other hand, I took on the responsibility of Marlins to get a new challenge, and it will result in a more fiscal responsible FA bidding from me.....

    I think ;)

We are still going to do stuff in chat. I just was trying to get initial bids made by email. You won't know what anyone else's initial bids are anyway because they will email them to me or give them to me in PM. It will only be after day one that you know if you were high bid or if your offer was low.

Actually I was planning to get initial bids worked up and give them to you prior to the FA - that was infact why I asked you that FA question earlier in chat. But lets get Carlisle to the final first. :)

Well, the Wakefields shall make free agency afterall, being on tuesday. As the clubhouse returns from its retreat sometime in the afternoon of said date. Although, if delays occur the Wakefields would want nothing more than the current bids.

Ok little bit of an update to keep everyone apprised of the situation. I had a bit of a scare todaybut I think everything will be ok. I got up this mornign with plans to do a little work before having to go to school. I turned on the computer and nothing. This happened about 3 weks ago and I let the computer sit for about 5 minutes and it worked fine. So i decided to try that. I let it sit and still nothing. So I started taking things apart. I finally got the system running but it still would not find the HD. Then i started to panick. Not because of OOTP but because 2 semesters of my graduate work were on the disk and some of it I don't have back ups for. So I decided to take the drive out and bring it to school. I put it on my machine at school and still nothing. So now I'm feeling a little worked up. i call my computer company and they are sending me a new drive. I came home after work and just to see I hooked it back up and still nothing. SO i did what all good computer techs do I shook it and smacked it around a bit and low and behold it came back up. So I was able to backup my files to my pen drive. I also had input all the FA bids I had recieved including dean, manny and cat's.

So what does this mean for the league? Not much right now. The only thing it may mean is a postponement of FA until I get my new drive setup. It should be here in 2-4 days but it will probably take me at least 1 to get it set back up.

On another front I will be out of town until Sunday nite. I will have limited internet access so i probably will not be around much if at all. Once I come home, if I can get the drive to boot again I will be making a full system backup but I do not have 6 hours to sit and do it tonite. That will however make it easier to reset the new drive.

BTW I checked that offside call and after seeing it again it was right (a yard or so). Stupid of Wake to run ahead of Foran like that though.

OK as it stands I am still planning Fa tomorrow at around 9:00 pm cst. I won't start before then but I might start after that depending on when I get in from work.

I want to make one last plea for email bids. This is why. I have all of my major projects due tomorrow for school. I am pretty well finished but I will be polishing tonite. That means I probably will be up until 2 or 3 then I have to be up at 7:30 to present them then I go straight to work. and work to about 9. What does that have to do with FA. It means that I am not going to be fresh with only 4.5 hours sleep so I am going to go with FA until i get tired. Then I am stopping! I will continue on Wednesday nite if need be. I expect FA to take a good while because there are some good players this season. I can forsee finishing on Tuesday but if I have to input initial bids for 13 people before we get started there is no way I am going to finish it out in one night. I have bids from 5 out of 18 owners(including mine). Please, Please send your bids early to castor27@ev1.net.

I'm going through the FA's now and you will have my by tonight. Although as a first time GM I'm wondering how this works. I guess I send you my starting offer and then my DO NOT EXCEED offer? Also I remember you saying that I couldn't go over my FA money available, so my question then is should I list my FA in order of preference. Like if O. Hernandez signs then take some of that money and try and sign Washburn. Or do I just list how much I would spend on each player and if I happen to sign one and then if I dont have enough to sign another on my list he come off? Basically I'm want to know is how or what form I should e-mail you my offers?

Well, as far as I know, the game won't let you place more offers than you have money for. In other words, no one can technically "come off" if one of the high-priced players signs with you, because you couldn't make an official offer in the first place.

What you should probably do is make a scenario list, if you have a backup plan that would use all of your money. (remember though, FA money isn't necessarily accurate - FA money is determined by both revenue and the cash you have to cover losses. You should really look at your current payroll and add the additions and see what you can afford in comparison to your revenue.

Anyway, on the scenario list, you would say "Vazquez, 9 for 5", some role player, etc. But then you can tell Castor that if you don't have the top offer for Vazquez, pull it off the table and offer these other players instead (and then go to scenario number 2). I hope that helps.

Also, in general, it helps to be in chat during free agency. It's not a requirement, but you can get a status report several times on how your offers stand, and you can also get an indication if a FA might be going for below value where you can steal him.

I have sent replies to everyone that sent in FA bids except for Drew (I wasn't sure if you could check that email address since it was not your normal one). If you did not get mail from me then I did not get your bids. I will be here tonite but it is looking more like it will be around 9:30- 10:00. We did not finish last nite until about 9 and it takes me about 30 minutes to get home and settled. You can still email bids in but make sure you put Free Agency in the title. I almost deleted NYK's with my junk mail.

Oh I guess what i really meant were ones that were sent the last couple of days. I couldn't remembe rif I had sent replies to everyone the other day or if I had just posted them here. At any rate your bids were received and submitted so you are ok.
