This summer will prove to be pivotal for the upstart Sacramento Kings. Finally on the edge of being a great basketball team they face uncertainties with Chris Webber, and now uncertainties with their star point guard Jason Williams. After the loss to the Lakers in Game 4, Williams again questioned his team, and his role, and whether he was in the right place for himself. The next day his father had a closed door meeting with Kings ownership. The Maloofs agreed to keep most of the specifics of the meeting confidential but told media that they had no interest in trading Jason, that they understood Jason's concerns, and that they would work collectively to solve those issues. One of those issues is getting a veteran point guard to help Jason make the transition from being good to great. The consensus from the team is Jason is unwilling to learn to be controlled, and that if he'll embrace learning, they will get him the much needed help he clearly needs. On the Webber front, Monday proved to be an interesting news day as every city with a chance at Chris Webber seemed to tout they had the inside track on landing the most coveted free agent in the 2001 class. The reality is the 2 cities that want Chris the most (New York and Orlando), may have the least chance of grabbing him. Again, be warned that Chris has not indicated to anyone a desire to leave or stay, simply that he plans to listen to options this summer. The Houston Rockets appear to be the team most able to grab Webber on the open market, but league sources say Webber is not going to stick Sacramento, meaning capspace or no capspace, Webber will be acquired in a sign and trade deal. That said, Houston's ample wallet only means they can send cap relief and players to the Kings, in exchange for Webber , but they will not land him outright. In sign and trade terms, Chris will have a lot more power to dictate where he lands, meaning virtually all 29 teams have as good a shot as anyone regardless of cap position. Its going to come down to 3 factors according to sources close to Webber. 1.) Can they win a title. 2.) Is the team and system going to benefit Chris (remaining an All-Star) 3. Lifestyle (is the environment conducive to what Webb likes to do away from the court). While many are cooking their own ideas, the reality of the situation is Chris is going to do some shopping, and until the shopping can begin on July 1st, and a contract signed August 1st (not July 15th!)- nothing is close.

    This being said.
Its all up to him where he will go. I think this hurts our chances at landing him . .but opens up alot of good possibilities of getting a peice of this deal.

Sac gets - Harrington and walt [<-- Cap releif next year]
    NY gets - Weber
    Houston gets - HOUSTON!

C- Dream PF - Mo SF - Houston SG - Cuttino PG - Franchise

THIS IS AND OFFENSIVE BUZZ SAW
    Weakness - Rebounding and defense
    Backups
    c - Collier PF - KT SF - Langhi SG - ? PG Mooch

This would allow for some more Wheeling and Dealing this summer

I take it that Cato is going to be on the injured list and Shandon walks away!

When did bskball.com post this? It smells a lot like a paraphrasing of an oilepere post.

Certainly the Rockets can pull off a 3-team deal to land Webber? CD needed a third team to land us Steve.

This does lower our chances of getting him, but if Webber is already decided to come to Houston then this may be great. In his intent to try to help Sacarmento rebuild, CD may be able to work some his magic and get Webber and maybe Stojakovic over to the Rockets.

Carlit0 why did you name NewYork and Orlando as the teams that want him the most? I think Houston wants him just as bad.
