    Online Canadian Pharmacy Modafinil

During the last presidential election we keep hearing about people buying drugs from Canada. Can this be done online, without a prescription?

When I google for certain drugs (like modafinil) I get tons of results, but I can't tell if these pharmacies are really based in Canada or if they are based out of Mexico.

Is there a list of trusted online pharmacies out there?

    Very funny. :D

I have mild sleep apnea. My doctor won't prescribe modafinil because she claims there hasn't been enough test on it to make her comfortable about it. But many people I know take it and say it is as as safe as a cup of coffee.

Does anyone have experiences with modafinil/provigil?

Legitimate on-line Canadian pharmacies require a prescription. Their advantage is simply cost.

I could forward you an email i received a while back for a place that sells v1agra and other pills without a prescription -- but i can't really vouch for them.

How would a stimulant help you with not being able to breath while sleeping?

I may have to listen to Dr of Dunk, he is a doctor afterall. :)

bnb, thanks for the thought. I get those emails too and I was hoping I'd get some recommendations from someone who has actually ordered from the pharmacy.

A-train, it doesn't cure sleep apnea. Modafinil merely helps you stay awake and combat the symptoms of sleepiness caused by sleep apnea zzzzz.

I've had success ordering things from a pharmacy in India on multiple occasions. They don't require a prescription or anything though. It's not exactly what you would call "completely legal" but I've never had a problem. :)

"it must be safe because people who had no medical training said so! yay!"

If you don't hear from me during the Rox's 2006 championship run, I probably died from taking this sucker. :p

Pipe, thanks for the info. Good to know it has worked out well for her. Makes me feel a lot better about it. :)

Harrisment, can you PM me the link? You know, for educational purposes.

mleahy999, luckily I do have cocaine lying around. It's modafinil that's giving me problems.

SwoLy-D, I did to to Mexico once to buy cipro (during the whole biological warfare scare). Didn't have a great experience....

FYI, when I saw that it was on the list of banned NFL substances I laughed out loud. Really.

I have had prescriptions for Cylert and Ritalin. I took it upon myself to try some from a South American pharmacy as an alternative for several months when I was dissatisfied with the rebound effect I received from those drugs.

Its stimulant effects are non-existent when viewed in relation with the two I have been prescribed. It will keep you awake. It won't get you "hopped up" at all. It provides less stimulation than a cup of coffee. At one point I took it later in the day than I should have and that evening was left both tired and ready to sleep but wide awake at the same time.

IMHO, addictive potential is nil. Again having taken both Ritalin and Cylert I can understand how those drugs could become addictive. The dose-response mechanism simply isn't there with modafinil. Its onset and manifestations reminded me of antidepressants, like Prozac. You can feel that something's there, but it's not one of those things that gets your heart racing and there's no rebound period as far as I can tell. I consider coffee to be more addictive. This is also only my own personal perspective. It could affect different people differently for all I know.

That having been said, it is technically a Schedule IV substance, the same scheduling level of the aforementioned Cylert, as well as most of the benzodiazepines, like Valium, and Xanax, so the loopholes that allow you to import a 3 month supply of a drug don't apply. In other words, you will need to get a doctor's prescription or you will be importing it illegally.

From what I understand, this means that if customs decides to check the package they will send you a note asking whether you wish to claim it and requiring the presentation of a physician's prescription to do so. In that way, it's not like importing "drugs". You won't get the DEA after you. Again, I can't speak from experience because I ordered just the once with no problem, but for what its worth that's my understanding. Nevertheless, it should be made clear that you are "breaking the law" by ordering it from a foreign pharmacy. (My gut tells me that you won't actually be able to get it from a truly "Canadian" pharmacy, whether they tell you this or not.)

    Importantly however:
The question of "enough study" which your doctor raised, is altogether something else. It could cause liver damage or Parkinson’s disease, or god knows what with long term use. This would be a Vioxx-type problem that could only be determined with large scale studies. I don't believe that there is any indications that this is the case, but I have no legitimate expertise to comment on this other than the fact that modafinil is FDA approved, but so was (and still is) Vioxx.

Wow Ottomaton, thanks for that informative post. Your description of Modafinil sounds like the kind of effect that I'm looking for.

But you also make a good point about the legality of the drug. I guess since I've only heard good things about it, I didn't bother to think that it is technically a controlled substance despite the fact that it is not addictive. (Maybe I will switch doctors, as some have suggested, and try to get a prescription the legal way.)

Even with a valid prescription, drugs are still cheaper when purchased online right? Which South American pharmacy did you use? Do you recommend them?
