I went to the Website site of the biggest conspiracy theorist LG and they are saying that the fat boy that Oneal hit was 16 and that Oneal also hit a COP. If this all proves to be true he might be worse off than Artest.
I guess that 16 year old learned a valuable lesson. Don't come on the NBA court and try to threaten other people. Maybe next time if something like this breaks out in which he is a part of he will run to the arena exit signs instead of trying to be an instigator.
I know that the guy JO nailed was Charles Hadad, and that he was first hit by Anthony Johnson. Jermaine actually knocked the guy out with his punch, and they took him out on a stretcher. How this escaped the TV footage baffles me. Evan
Not calling you a liar, but where'd you hear this? By the looks of the replays it looks like he's getting up after he gets hit. Also, was Anthony Johnson the guy in the brown suit? I didnt see anyone else get into it with that guy. -Nick-
Dude this kids nowadays have no respect for anything and they think they are invincible. Why on earth is trying to talk smack to Artest? Why would he step on the court? Imagine if this was Vegas, would this kid be stupid enough to do this to Mike Tyson? Would some throw beer at Tyson? He's lucky he got Jermaine ONeal instead!
I'm no lawyer, but that looked like he was aiming to get a big fat $$$ settlement out of this. I really hope he doesn't get one, but if he does, then that was actually pretty smart of him to piss off Artest like that.
I saw a very clear Replay of "Charles Hadad" and the other guy over and over again. Artest was walking away from the other fight..and these guys saw him and started running towards him and the other guy clearly raised his fists in an attack position and ran towards Ron Artest. Artest went then clocks the guy and Charles Hadad tries to tackle Artest. Anthony Johnson (Pacers Injured Backup PG in the Brown Suit) then Grabs hadad on the ground and clocks him. O'Neal sees the fight between fans and players and comes in swinging. He slips (thank god for Hadad) but still clocks him cold. After watching the replays over and over from different angles, there is no doubt that these two came onto the court to start a fight or cause trouble. They saw Artest and started yelling and running towards him with their fists he clocks one of them and they both attack him. If these two don't get in a lot of trouble for coming onto the court and attacking players then its bullsh*t. If either of these two a-holes get a penny, then it will encourage every idiot to do the same thing hoping for a payout.
He's (Charles) getting up because he had just been decked by Anthony Johnson. Johnson was the guy in the suit - he's been on injured list because of a broken right hand (irony, eh?). This is why AJ got handed 5 games by Stern. Series of events (it'll help if you have a the videos on hand - the entire sequence was shown in two different clips and possibly different cameras. Certainly diff angles) 1. Artest is confronted by big guy in hat and white Pistons jersey and a chin-only goatee (Alvin Shackelford - according to Detroit Free Press). 2. Artest pops him twice in the mug, sending him back a couple steps. 3. Big Guy #2 (no hat, but similar garb)(Charles Hadad - according to Detroit News) half tackles Artest from the side. 4. "Alvin" has been surrounded by a mob of assistants and security. 5. "Charles", while starting to get up, is punched by Anthony Johnson while being surrounded by assistants and security. 6. Ron is being held by Austin Croshere. 7. Jermaine O'Neal comes in with his Mortal Kombat blast on "Charles" (still on his knees). 8. "Charles" is knocked out and removed by stretcher. 9. "Alvin" claims in his TV news interview that he was trying to get "Charles" off of the court, not confront Artest. Anyone that has seen the tape laughs. Evan
if emjohn and F.D. Khan are right, and it looked like that to me, then those guys better get nothing and i'm glad o'neal punched him. in fact, Shackleford should be the one that gets sued just for saying something that stupid. if we're gonna say artest deserves what he gets even though he was provoked then they certainly deserve anything they get for going onto the court and then provoking artest. jermaine "go to sleep" o'neal.
In the 16 year old's defense, he did not hit anyone so to say he was a threat is vastly inaccurate. Secondly, it is true that fans should remain in the stands, HOWEVER because the Pacers charged into the stands, the stands were not a safe place. Maybe the 16 year was trying to leave the fracas (in the stands) to avoid harm. I find it quite hard that you all would Jermaine Oneal's and Ron Artest's actions.
Not even close. Watch the tape (I linked it in a new thread). They were looking to start something. As far as his being a threat, you don't have to wait for the first punch before you can defend yourself. There had already been violence, and this clown came down from the stands and presented himself in a confrontational way to Artest. Artest can't defend much of what he did Friday night, but that is one incident where he can. I don't know about the 16 y/o thing either, neither one of them look like HSers to me. Evan
No I know, but even after Jermaine hits that guy, it doesnt look like he's knocked out cold or anything...it still looks like he's starting to get up. I just dont see how nothing on TV or anything has mentioned that he got carried off in a stretcher or how there was no footage of it shown. It seems like something like that the media would just eat up. -Nick-
i can believe the guy went off on a stretcher. he did initially look like he was trying to get up but that's probably before his body fully reacted to what happened. he probably went back down and stayed down after that. i would've been suprised if that punch didn't knock him out. i mean how much harder can you hit a guy.
Its all bs...if your defending someone, then its one thing, but it looks cut in dry from a lawsuit standpoint...the kid never attacked JO and will be getting big money...so will the other fans...pathetic...I think the kids new what they were doing...
For christsakes the kid was being helped to his knees after getting decked by that punk Anthony Johnson. As he is being helped up he is clearly confused and in NO way in position to make someone feel threatened. Needless to say that's when O'neal charged in from a DISTANCE and knocked the kid out. That was the worse offense of them all because it was totally preventable. Just ask Rudy T. what kind of damage could have occurred. O'neal needs to be locked up and should be sued in Civil court.
ok after watching emjohn's video from sportscenter again, i finally saw two things people have been saying. the first guy artest went after was jumping up and down and pointing at the initial beer toss. still shouldn't have got attacked but i can now see why artest may have thought it was him. acting like a doofus, even an innocent doofus, will do that. and two, fat guy #1 definitely came on the court ready to go when he saw artest. only after artest saw him did he get the deer in the headlights look and just stare at artest before artest hit him. that guy had no reason other than picking on artest for being on the court. he should've been the one o'neal clocked. the second guy tackled artest and yes may not have been a threat after johnson hit him (for some reason he's looking at johnson like he can't believe he hit him as if he didn't just walk on the court and tackle artest) but he still has no right to complain about what happened to him. don't start nothin', won't be nothin'.
