There has been news about Oneal wanting to leave Indy. I heard he wants to go to the Spurs. Is there any legit source that can confirm this. Are the Rockets also a choice for O'neal. Sign and trading Rice (his expiring contract appeal) and Griffen plus something else could be on the works. If anyone has any info please share.

Um, I don't see why they would take Griffin and Rice.

Griffin really isn't on any teams radar screens, and Rice would be used for extra cap space right? Don't they get that cap space anyways when he leaves?

EG IS on other's radar. Several others. Starting with the Knicks and going through a dozen or more others.

Maybe teams that are looking to trade veterns for young talents, but not teams looking for an equal trade for super star material.

I think our biggest trade value is Rice's expiring contract, EG would just be a nice throw in for the Pacers. I don't think it matters though, O'Neil will end up in San Antonio. He makes much more since than Kidd with Robinson's retiring this year, and the Spurs don't need a S&T because they have the cap room. I am also pretty sure that Jermain will find the defending NBA Champs a little more appealing than us as well.

Indy REALLY REALLY wants us to give them Moochie and Rice for O'Neal.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

O'Neal would be a perfect fit for SA as he would be dynamite playing next to Tim Duncan. I don't see the Rockets as being all that attractive to him as at this stage of the game, SA is a far more attractive place to be for a FA looking to win an NBA Championship. SA is close - very close, far closer than Houston is right now.

IMHO, Indiana would be nuts to take Rice and EG in exchange for a superior player like O'Neal. After all, why should they do Houston a favor and take these two off their hands? How would that make Indiana any better?

What would S.A offer Indy that would be more attractive than EG and rice?

Ginoboli, Parker, Jackson??? Anybody but TD? Maybe Im biased but EG has more potential than anybody on the Spurs not named Tim Duncan. Rice ( expiring contract) and EG is not a bad package for O'neal. For Oneal's SA is more appealing but for Indy's I think Houston is more appealing. I dont see Oneal leaving INdy however

All S.A. has to offer him is a max contract. O'Neal is a free agent afterall.

IMHO, Tim Duncan just about shows everyone what he's capable of? I don't think Duncan have too much room to grow. He's already a unstoppable force, however, it's hard to imagine him getting any better than he already is. Maybe hitting a couple 3s? ;)

one possiblity I could see for the spurs not getting O'neal would be if they actually didn't want him . I don't know how much sense this makes (probably not much), but hear me out: If the Spurs got Olowokandi (whom they were rumored to be interested in at one time), Duncan could stay at PF. If they got O'neal, it seems like Duncan would have to slide over to the 5.

Plus, they could probably get Kandi for less, then have some money left over to get another shooter/slasher type, maybe steal Hedo from the Kings - isn't he a free agent?

man, I'm jealous of the Spurs' cap situation.

O'neal would be deadly if paired with McGrady in Orlando though.

So why would he want to come here again?

its most likely that Oneal is gonna join the spurs for the max and he is going to be lured by the possibility of championship ring...both incentives that no one else in the league can offer.

    rocketfan83,
The Spurs don't have to give Indy jack! They can just offer O'neil the max because of their cap situation. They won't need a S&T like we would, because they have cap room from hell.

Why would O'Neal even want to come to this Rox team we havent been to the playoffs in 4 years. SA and Orlando in playoffs every yr. and T-Mac/J-Oneal would be dynamite.. and don't even mention Tim Duncan.. sorry but we don't have a chance at dude.

Cuz our team has the best future in 3 years.

    Houston....well nice city. ;)

Steve Francis, Yao Ming....good future. Very good .....

Why? Maybe he wants a challenge!

Why does he want to be a little baby brother to Tim Duncan? Why would he step down and just give up and not be the leader and franchise player anymore???

Well, while your team is still IMAGINING of good time ahead, the Spurs are already in it NOW :p

Does he want to play alongside TD ? Why not ?

Unlike Shaq or Kobe, TD isn't some EGO maniac superstar who would be b****ing around when his teammates shine. Just watch the Suns series, you'll see my point ;).

With his introvert and down to earth personality, he is THE BEST teammate and leader you could have to play with ( by the way, i also see the same quality in Yao Ming FYI )

He would also have other teammates who already know their role in the team and abide by it. Do you see any "Mobley" in our team who would hog the ball and suck the game out of his superstar teammates ? :D

Not to mention a coach of the year to guide his way into greatness, a guy who's straight forward, no nonsense, no mind games, no b****ing, fair game and know his job to begin with.

So' i'll ask you again, why does he not want to play alongside a back-to-back MVP, who also a great teammate, surrounded by a bunch of good talents, get paid what his worth, and experience mild winter here in South Texas ? ;)
