I liked reading that article, but I think it wasn't fair to Williams. In some ways, he was just as set up to fail as Yao.

Still, what were the Bulls thinking drafting a PG who can't shoot free throws any better than Shaq?

(had to slip one in there, I'm anti Duke)

JWill is a good one. I refused to write off people so easily when we have suffered the same thing when Yao's drafted. Let's not behave like the bangwagon media! :)

And yeah did Francis really say this? Is this a misprint?

"As a whole, he's one of the best skilled guys in the NBA," Rockets leading scorer Steve Francis said. "There were stretches (Sunday) where we didn't get him the ball and the Bulls made their run."

Now Steve, we know you can talk. Do it on the court please!!! :)

NO flame, but didn't Vitale basically say Jwill would be better than Francis? Some on this board may have advocated trading Steve to Chicago for Jwill.

As much as I don't like Duke I agree that the article was too hard on Williams. In the triangle offense, he is forced to battle much taller point guards in order to cut to the basket or find an open look outside; it's all about floor-spacing. In college, I noticed that he had really bad nights against quicker point guards like Gilbert Arenas. He would thrive as a high screen-and-roll player on another team, but is he another Michael Jordan (as Bill Simmons predicted) or even another Steve Francis (whom Dick Vitale suggested trading for Williams)? It would be good to see him succeed, but if you expect superstardom you'll probably be disappointed judging by the first half of the season. But you never know.

I think you guys are being too hard on J Wil, he'll still be a good to great player. Afterall, hes just 20 years old and he'll eventually find himself soon enough. Just as we've said with Yao, "Give the kid some time".

And to think that I actually thought J Williams was a better 1st round pick over Yao back last year.

It looks like J Williams will be just another college star who can't make it in NBA.
