I, a UT student, with recent events have decided to stay home and spend as much time with family as possible-since I haven't been able to do that this semester and am putting my student section UT ticket up for sale to whoever wants it.

I am only asking face value(45), but will of course accept the highest offer. Either post here, or reply via email at davidv2001@yahoo.com if you are interested.

    Thanks.

    HP,

    Shut up.

For your information, I have seen my family 1 day the past 2 months, because I am busy every weekend producing my journalism stories. Sorry, if I put my family over UT football, when our season is done.

I am as diehard a Longhorn as you can get, but I want to go home to Houston and visit my family, and not have to cut my trip short.

If UT was playing for a meaningful game, I was planning on coming back up, but as it is I would rather spend that time with my family since I have the chance.

You know nothing about my love and dedication of sports-considering I am studying to be a sportscaster to even begin to say these things about me. So, I suggest you mind your own business.

Anyways, I refuse to let this detract the purpose of the thread, which is to put my ticket up for sale.

Like I said in the first post, email me at davidv2001@yahoo.com or reply here if you are interested.

    DVauthrin,

So, let me get this straight, if UT hadn't lost their game against Oklahoma, you'd go to the Thanksgiving game?

btw: If you can find someone who won the Ming bet with me, you can trade them the ticket for their Shut Up Heypee Coupon.

The OU game isn't why am going. For your information, I was at the Cotton Bowl for that one. The reason I am selling the ticket is because after our embarassing loss to Tech this weekend, we are going to another meaningless bowl game and quite frankly I wish to detach myself from college football the rest of the season

Plus, and most importantly, I have seen very little of my family this semester so I wanted to spend as much time as I could in Houston over the holidays. I was debating on the thanksgiving game at the beginning of the season, because I am perfectly happy watching the game with my family at home in Houston and they come FIRST.

I am a huge Longhorn fan, and sports nut in general-I have a passion for sports, but my family is very important to me and considering UT's bowl circumstances and my family situation this semester, I made the conscious decision to go home to spend as much time with them as I could.

    Stop.

Read the last page of kidrock's thread to see my post there. There is still a pretty solid chance, if USC beats Notre Dame, that we could get the final at-large spot. If that happens, you have four two-loss teams: USC, Notre Dame, Texas, Kansas State.

Though you could probably make the argument that USC was playing the best, I don't think either USC or Kansas State could compete with Notre Dame and Texas in terms of attendance and TV ratings. Notre Dame would naturally be a favorite over Texas, but if USC beats them pretty bad and if the Sugar Bowl is the one making the selection, we have a decent chance. There is a large UT fanbase in the greater New Orleans region, so we would sellout the Dome, and we would get ratings because of the names of our players. There's a chance they would take us over Notre Dame.

I'm not saying that this is going to happen, or it's likely, but come on, have more faith than that DV... it is not as impossible as the media makes it seem.

Holy ****, they lost to Tech?? Really??? How'd the hell did that happen? Was is Simms fault or the Coach?

You are not going to watch the meaningless bowl game, either? Man, that's so sad. I hate to see such big UT fans give up on their season like this. You guys represent our best overall university and our only chance (besides Texas A&M) to beat Oklahoma.

    Cat,

I love the Longhorns and I do think they are a very good football team, but I want this time with my family. It would take a lot of work to get us a BCS bid. But it isn't impossible. It would be nice. Don't think I have lost my fandom, it's just even before the Tech I was debating watching the game at home with my family, so I could see them longer-since as you in the journalism industry I have had very little time to do that this semester. And I hope we murder the Aggies, I just don't want this good a team to be subjected to a Holiday or Cotton Bowl again.

I cried, sulked a lot Saturday, no loss hit me hard, mainly because it was to a team we never should lose to. Especially when we had so many chances to win, and I was convinced we win out we play in the NC game, no matter what OU did.

I am still recovering from that experience, and have moved on, and if we do manage a BCS bid, I will be happy, but watching another Holiday or Cotton Bowl doesnt do much for me.

Anyways email or reply here if you want the ticket, anyone.

DV, this is kind of surpising. I thought you were a diehard fan, like The Cat and I (and others).

    Diehard doesn't equal homer.

Cotton, Holiday, or Alamo. Take your pick.

Cotton or Alamo. Closer and I could get tickets.

They could go 0-11 and I'd still get season tickets.

    GR8-1.

I am a diehard Longhorn fan. I just am extremely frustrated after Saturday, and I prob will end up watching the game anyway. I just want to spend time with them, I have seen them only on parents day with my broadcast journalism commitments.

One thing I am not is a fairweather fan. I just don't know if I want to think about college football much more this year, especially if Ohio State gets past Michigan-my nightmare will have come true.

You guys are complete asses. How dare you sit here and tell DV

"Who cares about family, A game with possibly a shred of importance should be your primary focus"

Yeah I know, I'm one to talk. I love football more than the next guy, But who can blame DV for not going to a game with little relevence when he wants time with his family. There is a fine line between loyalty and obsession.

    and... Go Irish. :)

i'm not gonna judge him. But, he did say that the loss to Tech influenced his reasoning. So, if UT had scored another TD, he might want to go.

I had been wavering on this well before Tech, as I really haven't seen my family all semester, but of course after that game, it made the decision easier. I have not had a loss hit me as hard as that Tech game did, no question asked.

See, I hate this. Quick little one-liners with no substance behind them. Tell me what happens if USC beats Notre Dame, as most people predict to happen. The BCS must take a two loss team, if that happens. There's no alternative. Can you please tell me how you can distinguish USC, Notre Dame, or Kansas State from UT? We beat Kansas State, at their place. USC lost to Kansas State. Notre Dame is good, but people know they aren't as good as their ranking.

USC and K-State won't go ahead of Texas and Notre Dame, because of the lack of name/player recognition and attendance problems (USC). It'll come down to Texas and ND for that last BCS spot, if ND loses to USC. And I'll tell you a couple of things. If ND gets waxed by USC in that final game, there's going to be some pressure to not take them.

If the Orange Bowl has the at-large team, it's definitely Notre Dame. But it's NOT a lock if it's the Sugar. UT has a huge fan base in the greater New Orleans area. We would pack the Dome (the Superdome LOVED last year's Sugar Bowl when LSU was in it-- tickets, merchandise, etc. were higher than every year except the national title yea) and bring a big name recognition. Notre Dame might too, but I know for a fact that the Sugar Bowl likes Texas. Always has.

Assuming USC beats ND, there's going to be a two-loss team in the BCS. I guess I'm missing something, but I don't see how you can distinguish any of the four.

    DV,

Staying wih your family is cool-- I have no problems with that. But, don't stop supporting the team. Supporting the team doesn't always mean showing up at the stadium screaming... it means watching them every chance you get, representing them well, etc. We still have a lot left to play for. No matter what the pessimists say, a BCS bowl is very possible.

At this time, we need all the support we can get. Hook' em! :)
