seriously, it's just one of those days where, while nothing huge has happened, there's just been a bunch of little annoying **** go down that just makes you long for that cold one at five o'clock.

morning starts where i can't find my wallet. tear the house up and down...check all my pants/shorts/drawers. i go from waking up 20 minutes early to being 15 minutes late and the wallet ends up right in front of me basically. because of that, i forget my lunch.

get to work and find out my co-worker has called in sick for the fourth time this year (there are only two of us in a department that receives close to 200 e-mails/phone calls a day from law firms asking for assistance with our product). yay!

have to go to apply for a passport at lunch. this takes the entire lunch hour and i finally leave to go back to work. when i get to my car, my girlfriend is calling saying they called us in. so, i'm going to be late getting back to work. to top it off, i thought it was only $60 and i put that money aside to pay for it and of course, it's more.

on the way back from the post office, i'm driving down that road just north of richmond that runs parallel. as i pull up to the stop sign at fountainview to turn right onto the street, some jerkdick with frosted tips and designer sunglasses is waiting in his jag to turn into the scott gertner sports bar parking lot. as i slow down for the stop sign (no one in front of me), this guy honks his horn and calls me an *******. so i slam on my breaks to ask him what his problem was. he sarcastically responds that he appreciates me letting him turn into the parking lot. i don't have time to explain to this douchebag the rules of the road (like, you typically don't randomly stop in the middle of the road to let people turn when you're not going to block their way in), so i called him an *******, apologized for wasting two seconds of his time, and shot him the bird as i drove off.

since i didn't have time to stop and pick something up, i get back to work and find a ramen in my desk. yay! of course, i'm swamped with phone calls and e-mails so i'm starving as i finally get a chance to breakaway and heat it up. come back to my desk, get another phone call and i have to walk someone who didn't even know how to open the internet through her issues. 15 minutes later, ramen is lukewarm and i had forgotten to take one of the packages out of the box, so it's basically ruined. no food elsewhere in the office except for popcorn and i can't leave since my co-worker is not here.

yep, just one of those days where i have to stop and remind myself that in the grand scheme of things, none of this stuff matters and not to sweat it, but it's hard to not sweat the small stuff when it feels like its all coming after you in the same day. the brightside is i start my career as a little league baseball assistant coach tonight. luckily i will have 150 minutes to unwind and relax before sharing my mad skills with the youth of spring branch. :D

Fixed it for you. Anyone who spends money at one of Gertner's establishments is a bonafide jerkdick and deserves to be shot.

Agreed. Sky Bar has to have the worst Aqua Velva to girl ratio in the history of the Houston bar scene.

Yep, we all have days like this, and until recently, they used to really tighten my jaw. Now, frankly they don't even register on the crap-o-meter anymore.

I've had a day like that just recently. I have still on my whiteboard a little message I wrote myself that day: "this is the life you have." Not exactly inspirational, I know.

How about a Rocketball get-together soon RM. It's only been a few years.

Count me in too! I don't have to be anywhere in the mornings...although it looks like that might be about to change! :)

Do your eyebrows assume the "pissed off" position on days like these? I had those going on today. Don't even f-ing look at me...cause I'll find a reason why I hate you (reminds me of the lead character in "There Will Be Blood").

g/l on the little league assistant coach thing.

I did that for the first time about 3 years ago. It was a great experience overall (I coached the 6-7 year old league where it was machine-pitch).

Best part for me was being able to teach fundamentals at an age when a lot of kids have had very little to no instruction on anything...it's great to know they're getting set up properly rather than learning bad habits!

Negative (aside from the usual 'tough to deal with some parents' thing) was the time commitment. 2 games plus 1 practice every week was a lot for a young, single guy on top of work and other stuff. But I'll get back to it one day..
