I hate it when Yao backs in on Karla and he puts all his body on Yao, then backs up immediately, causing the refs to call traveling on Yao. I think that this is a cheap move to go along with when he kicks his feet up in the air when he shoots. That block that Boki did was a pure block. No foul. Did anyone notice when steve made that crucial turnover and tried to save the ball at the end of the game, he accidently ran over a girl and pulled her down with him accidently. He helped her up and all. But if you have it on tape watch it over and put it in slow motion. Also, another thing that was funny, when Kobe made that last herioc bucket in the O.T, when the camera was on Al And Doc Rivers, One Guy that was wearing a Yao white jersey was saying f...k Kobe like 15 times. It was funny. The girl he was with tried to stop him from swearing in front of the camera. I just thought it was funny, anyone else notice these things??

Malone has pulled the chair on Yao twice in this series i think, and both times the refs were way too quick to call a travelling violation. In game 4, yao dribbled, did a little jumpstop thing and started falling backwards. He threw the ball up off the glass, but the refs had already called travelling. That was not a travel because yao had gotten the ball away.

Anyways, its gotta be tough when a guy is allowed to shove on you without getting a call, and then not shove you, and the refs call a BS travel.

I think shaq did it to Yao too - that's Yao's fault - welcome to the NBA - but I agree on Malone's bag of dirty tricks.

Think of Rodman and Mahorn as to how you should handle a player like Malone. Rodman brought out Malones true colors - and Mahorn could have done the same. He's just a big bully - put someone his own size on him and he can't handle it.

Umm, the first thing you mentioned is a valid tactic.
    It's not cheap.
It's knowing how to use the other person's force against them.

Problem is, Yao doesn't know how to control his body while attempting to go in with force just yet.

Malone is a very frustrating player to watch when he is playing against your team. And the cheap shots have got to go because the man is too big and he is going to seriously hurt someone throwing his elbows around the way he does. However, I'm not going to criticize him for some of the things you are criticizing him for. Don't get mad because he outsmarts our players. He's been around the track a few times and has many a trick up his sleeve. He knows he is playing a mentally weak team in the Rockets and on several occasions was obviously trying to get into the Rockets players heads and force their emotions to get the best of them. You may hate him for it, but I can assure you that his coach and teammates love him for it.

I hate Karl Malone with a passion, but that move is not cheap at all. I call it brain, or whatever you can come up. When Charles did it to his opponents, I cheered for him.

Malone is cheap. First this season with that nasty elbow to nash. Then all this crap this series. He's done it his whole career. I hope he finishes championshipless and retires so he doesn't have a shot at the all time scoring title.

    Yup I agree...it's a smart & clean move.

We should just bring in weatherspoon just to kick him in his tiny balls and punch him in the face. I really want to inflict pain on that pansy right now.

Malone is a desperate man, he knows this is his last true shot at a title and will do anything to see it through. I just hope the Rockets will not go down without a fight! I want them to bring the series back to Houston and if we are certain to loose lets give Karla something to remember the Rockets by.:D

It is tough to be on the receiving end of Malone's play. You love him if he is on your team. He is smart, strong, skilled and a future HOFer. May be the best Power Forward of all time. At forty, he is better than most of the young Power Forward's in the league. He is the player I love to hate, however, I do respect his incredible ability. Without him, I think the Lakers would be down 3-1.

I hate Karl Malone but I'm not going to fault him on the pull the chair trick on Yao. I've seen a few other players do that to him and that seems to be a Yao problem that he's gotta deal with. Any smart NBA scout should be telling their post players to do that to Yao.

I hate Malone's thuggery, like taking out Boki's legs, or kicking people when he shoots. That stuff is just plain dirty.

I kinda wished we'd kept Oakley around to give a Malone a little taste of his own medicine.

Malone's signature move is when he drives towards the basket and lifts his knee up real high to draw contact. The knee usually hits the defender in the stomach or groin to draw a defensive foul, and keeps him far enough away so that Malone can get off the little fade away shot. That's how Malone fouled Yao out.

Malone plays within the rules and he is great.

He is a very good player, but won't be respected.

Shaq plays rough, but not dirty.
    Kobe/T-Mac, Iverson, Duncan, Garnett..

The grerat players trust their abilities and generally promotes fair competetion.

They enjoy the most when beating you fair and square.

Malone has a lot of cheap moves (flying kicks, elbows, etc) but that pulling the chair move is actually just a good veteran move. You give up spacing to your man and hopes he falls or travles, if he doesn't he's in a good position to get a shot off. It's a tactic which is fine. now elbows, kicks and undercutting Bostjan, those were cheap crap.

I know most of you won't remember this, but in 97 and 98 (when Barkley obviously was not Malone's equal anymore), he employed this tactic a couple of times...

Maybe its a sign of "respect"... Malone knows he can't guard Yao traditionally.

The move I hate from Malone is the one where he keeps making that 15-18 foot jumper...that one bugs me a lot.

I never thought I'd agree with this sentiment, but I'm with you 100%. We could use Oakley's toughness, and his propensity to pick fights.

Maybe that's what's missing from the JVG system-- we don't have enough thuggish players to really enforce it.
