I'm not too worried about tonight's loss against Portland. That is because the Rockets just missed shots they normally make, and the Blazers were Red-Hot. Still, the big positive in this game was Hakeem. It seems like the Rockets were still able to run their standard offense, but get Hakeem involved. I expect (hope) that now that the Rockets can see how effective Dream can be, they will go to him more often.

    AMEN! Brother! [IMG]

I wasn't much caring about the Rockets' loss tonight, too. They were just cold, and the Jailers were hot!!!

Dream! Dream! Dream! Even when the Rockets were behind like 10+ points, I was cheering for every Hakeem move. I couldn't believe my eyes! [IMG] Don't tell me Hakeem performed well only in such non-competitive moments. He got most of his points when the game was still reachable.

Thanks Dream for the flashback! [IMG]

By the way, I was about to start a threat to talk about ("talk about" is a much softer phrase) our guards. They were hitting nothing. When you aren't hitting anything, try something else! Why didn't Stevie drive to the hoop more? He did it once in the 1st half. Stoudamouse is a lot slower than he is. Why didn't the guards pass to the post and see how the post players did? I know they did, but they could've done it a little more.

    Anyway, ......

Prediction: a WIN tomorrow night! [IMG]

Solid game from Dream, but why not add Colliers numbers with Dreams - 29 points, 61.9 FG%, 6 rebs, 2 blocks, 2 assists and ONLY 2 TO's in 47 minutes. Against a team supposedly loaded up inside to stop Shaq! (IMHO, Colliers and Dream would both run Sabonis out of the gym even if he where available).

A totally weird game to move on quickly and forget - 60.6 to 47.4 FG% to Blazers, 39 to 25 Blazers board advantage, 2 of 11 from 3ville, and fewer TO's than Portland!!

I'm sure the trained eyes of the Rockets coaching staff may find alot more on their tapes than I saw on mine, but I hope they don't waste too much time on this one.

Hakeem was looking real sharp against Portland. He just seemed to be much more decisive than he was in the other games. And when Hakeem did the REAL dream shake of old, that brought tears to my eyes.

I am wondering what the cause of this flashback was. Could it be that Dream could have been doing this kinda thing all season long, but he was just hesitant and didn't know his role within the team? In all the other games, his moves were real slow/undecisive and when he came across the lane, he ended up passing it out. Maybe he finally realizes that we need him to score and that it's ok for him to take some shots.

I am hoping that his only problem in the other games was hesitance, because now that he seems to realize his role, he will be very effective and help the team out a lot.

Was it the Blazers being hot, or the lack of defense by the Rockets?

I saw way too many layups and wide open jumpers. This is the NBA. Players hit those open shots consistently. Teams do not fear coming inside on the Rockets anymore.

Dream was the only positive about last night.

Maybe I'm way off base. I didn't get to see the game. Par for the course, being in Iowa. However, when I looked at the box stats, I saw how Dream racked up some nice numbers. Francis took only six shots? Made three? SIX shots?! Hell, some of the other guys didn't shoot too much either; I'm sorry, but Damon Stoudamire is NOT THAT GOOD, our efforts to grab him three years ago notwithstanding.
I advocated picking up Mo Taylor but hell, Collier can give us Mo-like numbers (well, maybe). I don't know.
Chemistry? Was the team told to defer to Dream? Did Dream complain about his role? Did he say that be can contribute, get me the ball? Does he want to be traded and therefore extend his career?
I'd appreciate anyone's insight into this.

    Rox,

No complaining from Dream. He is just getting his legs back. He showed the old fadaway jumper, the quick spin and a nice touch. He did run out of gas several times and had to come out. The rest of the guys were just flat. Looked half dead actually. Collier is going to be a player.

Thanks, Finn. Appreciate it. I hope they wake up for tonight's game. They have better players than their showing last night.
I agree with you about Collier. Thing is, I wonder if he'll eventually give us about what Mo's giving us now. He produces a lot in the few minutes he's given.
Mo needs to Mo-tivate his ass on the boards or he'll be playing for Atlanta next year when we get Webber (don't flame me, don't flame me, just dreaming).

Look, I have been screaming for the Rockets to use Dream, he can play at a very high level.

I think the Rockets need to mix in a little of the old offense with the new, giving them more diversity, thus making them harder to defend.

My 2 year old has something to say..

Roughly translated, means dada is right, get Dream the ball.

o man i wish i saw this thread earlier. snow u beat me to the punch, i literally jumped out of my seat and started screamin when i saw that dream shake he did on dale davis. You know i can understand that some of these young guyz were poor when dream was in his prime, and probably didnt have a TV to admire dreams dominance, but DALE DAVIS has no excuse. Hes been seeing dream do people his whole entire career. [IMG] If thas not compensation for tha damn loss, wat is?
