You want to see the this team get to the next level? You want to see this team reach the heights that their talents show? Wanna?

The smart intelligent Labrador is Yao Ming. Athletic. Passes the damn ball. Goes to the right spot on the floor. And he is 22 by the way. Sure, he played alot in China but what does that mean? All the deers played on the playground and how is that turning out for their intelligence? I am sure they play better players in Queens that they would ever see on some NBA teams. The practice players they go up against in practice are better than whatever Yao went up against ever night in China.

The pit bull? Thats Francis. Sure, he is dumb sometimes. But he is getting smarter. You see progress. You see the tenacity of a pit. You see the killer instinct of a pit. Strong. Tenacious. Relentless. That makes up alot for his IQ...which is getting better and better.

But you gotta get rid of the deers. Trades or cuts or releases or whatever you have to do to get rid of them damn deers. The deers are:

Cuttino Mobley who is about as dumb as they come. If he ever loses a step, he will be CBA material if that.

Kelvin Cato who has improved a LIIIIIIITLE. Damn, he gets 40 mil to for what he does? If its not an alley oop pass and the occasional hook-shot/fadeway whatever, what else can he do?

Eddie Griffin who is the youngest of all deers. But why isn't Stoudamire having the same problems at his age? Why didn't Kevin Garnett have these problems? I can name you players who with the "talent" Griffin supposedly has and don't do the stupid jumpers and the stupid fouls. Ok, he blocks some shots. But damn, can you develop some consistency. Just a little? Maybe?

Moochie Norris got his contract and now he thinks he can take anytime threes and dribble to his hearts content. And dribble. And dribble. And dribble. How annoying.

Rudy T is turning into a big time deer. How can you please tell me what coach would not get the ball into Yao's hand on a consistant basis? Can he not see that Francis and Yao are the future not Mobley and Francis or Francis and Cato. Lets get with the program, Rudy. Please!!

I could go on and on about how the IQ of this team is about as high as mine is after 24 Coronas. But we all know that. Its just frustrating to watch. Its pathetic to notice. Its disgusting to see the talent wasted. Young team or not. This team is a bunch of deers, led by a coach that is coaching like one.

Make some trades. Make some deals. Trade some of this athleticism for some damn brains. God, this team has the talent to absolutely RULE starting THIS YEAR. Why not? The talent is there? Look at it. Easy 2nd rounder right before us. Easy 50 wins if they just THINK a little. They got 23 in the bag now. With some BRAINS, they could have 30!! No jacking up shots while on fastbreak. No giving the ball to Yao BEHIND THE 3 POINT LINE. OR TO GRIFFIN!!! No more Mobley freakin jacks from what seems to be mid court. No more brain farts for Rudy T!

Please! This freakin NBA package IS NOT CHEAP!

Our one strength (Yao) is not enough to overcome our weaknesses (everybody else)

No, the talent is not there. Brains and experience are part of talent. What the Rockets have is athleticism and potential, what pretty much every team in the league has. This team is not as good as people think. Nobody picked them to make the playoffs, except homer fans. Now the fans are mad because the team isn't living up to the unreasonable expectations they set.

    Good point, Freak.

But I am not mad about the fact that the team is underachieving. I am mad at the fact that there should be PROGRESS towards at least making the playoffs and doing damage. Why not get 50 wins? They had 23 now and with some freakin smarts would have 30. Thats my beef.

I know atheticism abounds in the NBA. But I am talking about this team which has athletes at EVERY POSITION. Yet, I bet you they couldn't pass a 30 question NBA IQ test even if they had a cheat sheet.

I've heard the phrase, "you can't teach an old dog new tricks," but does that apply to deer?

Your absolutely right about how the Rockets are made up. You have two players who have what it takes; while the rest are made up of wanabe's. Mobley thinks that he is an all star, but is far from it. Cato is payed like an all star, but he too will never be one. Eddie Griffin has the "Potential" to be a star, but he's too lost to know it. The Rockets need a leader, be it coach or player, that knows how to force roles on players (if you are not Steve or Ming, your a role player...period.)

If our "role players" refuse to learn how to play in the confines of this team, then it is true, "you can't teach an old dog (or deer) new tricks."

Would that not be CATO? He has been great for this team this year. Best back up C.

At times...he is what makes me yell yes on the tv...his aggressive rebounds...and alleyopps/ going to rim when mobes/stevie drives to get the last second pass and slam it.

What i dont like....he still doesnt jump alot to contest shots. aggravating...

I am kind of wondering...you guys see these guys on TV more often than I do...how would you rank and rate the Rockets players' intelligence...not talking about basketball IQ...talking about actual IQ...any guess?

I am wondering that because it seems like so many people say Cuttino is a stupid idiot...he just didn't seem like he lacked intelligence (worse than other basketball players) in the few interviews I have seen with him.

Maybe you think it's irrelevant, but I think that if a guy is smarter, he will do better on the basketball court in the long run as well. Guys can live off their athleticism, but if they are dumb, their athleticism will only get them that far.

Well, he isn't stupid; in fact he graduated from a four year college. I think he just doesn't have that team mentality. He knows hes good and he rather take it upon himself rather than his team mates. Alot of players these days are raised with the street ball AND1 hoops mentality. It just so happens that type of play gets you the endorsements and the regular highlight reels on Sportscenter.

No we need MAN'S BEST FRIENDS to teach these dogs new treaks/smarts.

    TheFreak
Btw, Smarts and Athletic ability is not the same and cannot be wrapped up as one. You are born with one - you conscious develope or acquire the the former. When people talk about Talent in the NBA or NFL I bet you they are talking about ATHLETIC ABILITY. A good example is The Bucs defense - when analyst talk about the talent on that team they are reffering to the Speed. Last time I checked speed is not related to Smarts.

Which dog won the overall best in show on the National Dog Show Saturday night (on Animal Planet)? I couldn't make myself sit through the whole thing, but I was curious as to the winner.

I would classify Francis as a Deer. Oh he may act like a Pit Bull every so often, but thats only because he is hard headed. He makes everything harder than it has to be. What the hell is this over the shoulder no look pass to Yao after he dribbles into yet another trap under the hoop? Just get Yao the damn ball, it doesn't have to make the damn ESPN highlights. A simple dish to Yao would do the trick.

All this team needs is a true point guard who knows how to run the plays that Rudy has designed. Does anyone else question why so many of the Rockets offensive sets seem to break down thus forcing either Francis to try to penetrate and create something or Mobley jacking up a shot from the Galleria? I don't think these are the plays that Rudy has them practicing. Yet night after night we see the same crap.

Get a true point guard (Payton, Nash, Kidd) and I guarantee Rudy would look like a genius.

ESPN Insider says Eric Snow is available....but the Sixers want a post player in return. So, since we ain't giving'em Yao or Cato...

    *sigh* Never mind.
