I can't believe all the negativity on the board already. The team may have been rough around the edges, but look at all the positives that were apparent:

Scola is the real deal. He passed great, was active all over the court, rebounded well, even blocked a shot. Will hit the offensive boards. Hope his shot improves.

Bonzi looked awesome. He will be a demon on cuts and the offensive boards. Looked to be in great shape, excited, and active all over the court.

Rafer was in his comfort zone. He was great on the break, had several steals, and played with confidence and poise.

Yao showed he will get his shots outside and in.

Harris was very active and has a better shot than Snyder from the outside. Looks like a keeper.

Head struggled as usual when asked to handle the ball, but looked unstoppable when cutting and on the break. He also bulked up and was pretty aggresive on the defensive end, although he still struggled there. Looks like the new system will help him immensely.

Can't wait to see Brooks and Landry. A little worried if Francis will fit, but with all the options it's not too much of a worry.

Does Harris have 3-point range? If he did, I think it's a no-brainer that we keep him.

Snyder's injury might have done him in.

I agree with you. We lost that game but that's not the key. We saw Rafer as a playmaker we saw Harris looks good. Scola is also ready. He needs that preseason to feel the NBA but he looks good. We have a lot of good players not only to score. They can also make the life easier for T-Mac and Yao.

I don't see how Harris makes the team. Granted he looks okay but he is a role player not under contract who is only slightly better than 2 other role players under contract (Snyder and Reed). He won't steal minutes from TMac Bonzi and Battier and with Steve and Head sure to get minutes at the 2 there are no minutes for him on this team. So unless he just turns it up a few more levels or Les is ready to throw money away on a player who is more likely to start on the IR, than Harris is a DEAD MAN RUNNING.

This board is very fickle. One win, and people start acting like we are the best team and can beat anyone. One loss, and people start popping up trade threads and how we need to add new players to ever stand a chance.

It's the way it's always been here.

I agree. Say it with me folks, it's PRESEASON. When the starters played it was a blowout. Adelman is clearly looking for and is going to be looking throughout the rest of the preseason for combinations that work. We played a lot of small ball in the 2nd half, and we got killed on the boards. It was the first NBA action of the year for a team that has no set plays yet. I think they did find. Obviously improvement will be necessary, but it's the PRESEASON.

This board may be fickle, but most of the complaints are legitimate. Its not like we played well at all other than the first quarter, so you can't fault fans for being negative.

In the 1st quarter ,the offence looks so fluid, players were moving and were not standing waiting for the stars to make some plays. What i relly like is the fact that Bonzi is in shape and everybody else looks to be in great shape .But man i'm so excited about tmac,i know he didn't score a lot but i haven't seen tmac that quick since well since his orlando days.

    "We talkin' bout practice!"

I wouldn't get my panties in a knot over the first preseason game in a new system, the 30-9 first quarter was more positive than I was expecting.

Adelman is back to the lab.

Good point about the contract. In terms of fit, I think we should keep him. But it will be costly for us to just cut Snyder or Reed.

I'm hoping the Rockets can pull off a trade to get rid of one or two of those players.

I think I was most excited about Bonzi. He is so well suited for this offense. If he stays as inspired as he is now, our second unit will be in great shape. We will be able to rest T-Mac and Yao more and still be able to stay in the game. I hate to go completely overboard, but we may have the best depth in the league.

Scola or Hayes are both legit starters.
    Bonzi is a legit starter.
James and maybe Francis are legit starters.
Snyder, Harris, Head, Alston, Mutumbo are all very worthy roll players and we haven't even seen Brooks, Landry, or Butler yet.

    Wow!

Actually, he is under contract. Non-guaranteed but still a contract.

Agree, I'm excited about all those players as well, except from what I'm not sure james or francis are starters yet. We haven't seen them in with the starting lineup, but from what I've seen without yao and t-mac they are not starters.

man i wish I could have seen the game like you guys. But just seeing the stats we did decent offensively and defensively on their shots...did poor in allowing them to get to the line so often.

We got a sweet team this year so I got high hopes. Excited to see how brooks and landry do and I really hope Francis gets his chance to shine again Did he look healthy in the 5 mins he played??

Geez, it's pre-season. winning or losing the game is meaningless.

    Positives ...

Yao looked good passing and shooting from the high post / elbow.

Bonzi is in shape and back to form.

Alston, even though he is in every Rocket trade rumor, looked to be a good fit for RA's offense.

I see him as a better option than Chuck, there is no difference between the two except for the fact that we gave Chuck a guaranteed contract. Oh, Harris 10 times better on the Offensive end and rebounds like a low budget Barkley. Put Harris in with the starters and watch Tmac and Rafer eyes light up. Adelman likes him alot and what does Les care about giving away money to players under contract not on the team. Matt Maloney, Bryce Drew, etc... ring a bell
