There are many kinds of pride. I say to you shaking my head. Pride is not all of one kind. There is the type which Hakeem is accustomed too. And that is to carry a team on your back. However, there is another kind of pride, and that is to be carried on the backs of your teammates. This year is for Hakeem. It's about bringing him a title. It's about respect. Despite all of Dream's handwashing he has never been free of it. It's time to take his burden. Say it over and over again. This year we will carry Hakeem to the title. It's time to lift Hakeem to a place where he's never been. A place higher than where he stood before. It's almost impossible to pin this down. Yet, around me, undoubtedly, I can smell opportunity. I can smell pride. We only need to embrace it. And win one for Hakeem. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
Is Hakeem getting traded to the Lakers?? I would love for that to happen...however, there is one problem. We are not a contender right now, and by the time we are, our hero will be gone. ------------------ HOOP-T ------------------
unfortunately HOOP-T is right we are not a contender yet (99-00). I would like to think that with the demise of San Antonio, the ever aging Jazz & the unpredictable T-Wolves that the Rockets keeping the team together can push to make a seed in the playoffs. I don't think a playoff run is out of the question but 2 full years of chemistry on a young team will be Tough to make a serious run passed the 2nd round. ------------------
*dries tear from eye.* Beautiful, man. If anyone deserves to be carried to the title it's Hakeem. The guy has done more for sports in the city of Houston than all other people combined. [This message has been edited by AntiSonic (edited July 03, 2000).]
The man busted his arse for us throughout the 80's and mid 90's , if there was one small chance , don't matter how small a chance for us to make it to the promise land I would take it in a hearbeat. ------------------ When I die I want to go right after watching a rockets game !
Forget about the dream. Cmoon Rockets, win it for me! Win one for the Crisco ------------------ No signature for you!

Negativity is a burden we don't need. ------------------ Kenny Thomas had a foul called on him in the Western Conference Finals.
Three main things would have to happen for us to be serious contenders next year. 1. We sign Tim Duncan, and he is healthy and remains dominant. 2. Kelvin Cato decides to come back from his mental and spiritual vacation in Tibet and play some ball. (His mind left right at the end of pre-season last year.) 3. We somehow quickly develop some amazing chemistry. -------------------------------- Now, if ALL those things happen, then we have a shot. But, unfortunately, the chances of even ONE of them occuring is the same as winning the Lottery and getting struck by lightning at the same time. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. First of all, I know this post is very speculative, but hey why not. Lets assume last year was a fluke and Hakeem comes back closer to his old self. He doesn't have to be MVP material, not even all-star material, just a 15-20 pt 10 reb 2 blk a night type of guy. Now lets say that all the stories we are hearing about Kato looking great, and how Kato is really been working on his game this offseason are true and he puts it all on the court. Now lets say that the Williams and Anderson we saw at the end of the year are the guys we are gonna see every night next year. And last but not least, lets assume for a moment that Collier is everything Rudy claims he is. Now is a serious playoff run really that far fetched? I know that this post is full of if's, but I dont think I posted anything that doesn't have at east a decent chance of happening. Besides, what are we gonna do, set around and b**** about how sorry we are? ------------------ "And On The 8th day god Created Basketball, And on the 9th He Created The Dream To Play It"
