    Dear Fellow Business Owners,

As a the owner of a business who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama will be our next President, and that my taxes and government fees will go up in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Customer will have to see an increase in my prices to them of about 8%. I will also have to lay off 6 of my employees. This really bothered me for a while, as I believe we are family here and didnʼt know how to choose who will have to go.

So, this is what I did. I strolled through the parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on my employeesʼ cars. I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem.

If you have a better idea, let me know. I am sending this letter to all Business owners that I know.

    Sincerely,

    Your Friend

    Dear business owner,

You are a complete and utter moron, and thankfully, you'll be out of business soon enough.

    Signed,
    Anyone with half a brain

    More chain emails eh Giddy?

What kinds of business owners fire employees based on bumper stickers rather than business needs and performance?

    Idiots? Republicans? McCain supporters? :)

    Dear small business owner,

It's great that you only need to layoff 6 employees. Under the GOP administration, the largest companies had to go bankrupt, when they got greedy after deregulation. All the major investment banks failed, got bought out, or convert to a different status. It has caused a massive wave of layoffs in other industries that can't get capital. It's good to hear that Obama's administration has provided enough customers for you to survive, instead of being the next Lehman Brothers or Enron.

Did the small business owner lower his prices 8% when he got the Bush tax cuts? Probably not. Did he pass the savings on to his employees? Probably not. And he's going to fire people based on political affiliation? That dude is an *******.

Scare tactics. Trickle down economics doesn't work but they're claiming that we can't get rid of it or we're all DOOMED.

Not only an *******, quite stupid to arbitrarily fire employees based on anything but performance. He sucks at running a business obviously and will fold up shop soon enough. Maybe since Obama is such a socialist he will bail him out...

If they had Obama bumper stickers on their cars, I'd probably fire them solely for their obvious lack of business judgment. Seems reasonable to me

Sure you can look at it this way, or you can look at the more likely scenario which is under Obama, the economy is much more likely to be better managed equating a higher standard of living and more disposable income. This in turn will fuel your revenue.

Btw, in Australia, firing people due to something like political affliations is against the law. You may get sued good sir.

Dear Small Business Owner email writer,

We know this is BS and that most likely you work for the GOP. Nice try a-hole.

At some point....someone...somewhere....has to pay taxes. The empire has wars and bailouts that have gone unpaid. Someone is gonna have to pay something...taxes are going to increase no matter who is president.

I've got a serious question to this. Businesses pay taxes on what they profit (right?). So, the only reason a business's taxes will go up is if they make more than $250k in profit. So, if a business were to fire its employees, it would be due to the employees not capable (or business owner not capable) to earn enough of a profit margin per that employee's performance.

Actually, no... but what's important is the ideas contained therein and their merit or lack of. Discuss if you choose but by all means quit sniping at the messenger! :)

I think you are taking the message to literally; I find it to have more value symbolically.

Yes, but the cautiious approach is to cut overhead when you anticipate reduced revenues. You can always ramp up later.
