Time for my annual "End of school year" post. Next Thursday is my last day of work and then I'm out for summer vacations! I already have SPI Schlitterbahn passes and don't plan to travel, but take the family to the water park often. As for my professional performance, I received a "Exceeds Expectations" in my evaluation, my classes TAKS pass rate was right at 90%, and my JV basketball team went 20-1 and threepeated as district champs. I've cut down my time on here substantially and plan to enjoy my 3 months of paid vacation to its fullest, while working on my masters degree. Life is good!
Oh my gosh. Are you looking in my windows? huh? huh? HUH? Are you? Cause I am barefoot in the kitchen! DAMN GINA.
90%! Why do you enjoy failing the other 10%? 20-1? Way to take the game off! That's impressive, man. Ride that wave of euphoria! It's Friday where I am too. I'll just ignore the fact that my weekend lasts 2 days while yours lasts 2 months.
Thanks. That team that beat my team, they won by 1 point (48-49)when my PG dished off the game winning drive to the post that was clearing out to the short corner. We took the shot but it rimmed out. That team then had a big target on their jersies. The next time we played them, we beat them 85-26. The team wanted to send a message.
Sometimes I think about being a teacher and having summers off. Then I remember I'd have to be around kids. Kudos to you!
a good teacher is invaluable. just don't date one...all they talk about is their coworkers and their kids, everyday...everywhere.
Congrats, FT. I am just wrapping up my 7th year teaching 4th grade. This year, the only testable subject I taught was math, and all 30 of my kids passed the math TAKS test! Needless to say, I'm stoked. Here's to a few months of down time, travel, making some extra money and spending some extra, too. And, all in all, recharging the batteries before it starts all up again in August!!
I've been teaching 3rd grade, and I love the kids. It's the adults that cause me trouble. I love the job, because instead of being in an office with a bunch of people I can't relate to, my coworkers are 8 years old. The other teachers, are all well meaning, but are so out of touch, and gabby old hens, it drives me crazy some times. They are sometimes overly sweet and too nurturing, or old bitter crows. Their are a few that don't fit that mold, but when I get five messages in a day from a math coach signed "Mathematically Yours," I realize just how separated a lot of these folks with anything outside the world of children, test scores and the like.
You should be proud. Without the kind of enthusiasm you have, I'm convinced our education system would be a huge(r) failure. It really is up to us individually (I sub lately so I guess I have an opinion) to "reeech theez keeedz". You also deserve more money for what you do. Kids see me as a "cool sub" bc I'm young(r). It's funny bc the thing that makes them view me as a pushover is the same thing that helps me do my job. I'm the grain of salt they need to take what they're told seriously. I'm not "the man" yet to them.
Haha, money would be cool if there were no work. It's true. As Mama Fratelli said in Goonies, "Kids suck."
