On the current Rox roster, who would make the best coach?

I have been thinking about this for quite a while, and since coaching is obviously on everyone's mind today, I was wondering which player (or players) on the current Rockets team would (or will) eventually make the best coach?

In other words, which guy has the best hoops IQ, ability to command respect, knowledge of techniques and likely an ability to actually coach guys up?

Which guy could be our own Rudy T?

Since there are so many really young guys on this team, my own list would probably lean more toward the older players, veterans.

I know Miller probably has the knowledge, but he just has such an unpleasant aura about him, I don't know how well players could mesh with him.

Martin for sure has a high hoops IQ, but his technical skillset is rather unique and not really something I would want him trying to teach younger players. He might make a good assistant coach.

Scola and Yao.. maybe could coach in the Olympics or for Euro teams or Chinese teams respectively, but not in the NBA.

And I know a bunch of people would have answered 'Battier' before the trade. But you know, I have never really got the vibe from Battier that he would make all that great of a coach, I can't really tell you why.. maybe it is because he has always been such a crummy free throw shooter, and that I always felt a guy with his 'basketball brain' should have been able to get himself up to being excellent from the foul line, and the fact that he either couldn't or wouldn't has just sort of nagged at me.

You've got these guys like Lee, Lowry, Bud and even Patterson, who all seem to have very good heads on their shoulders, but there's no way to tell which of them could make that step into the coaching ranks.

The one guy, the guy on this team who I believe will become an excellent head coach of some NBA team some day is: The Chuck Wagon. Chuck Hayes. He has everything you could want in a guy to groom as an assistant and then eventually a head coach.

I know I don't need to go into all the details of what this guy's heart is all about, and how much he has accomplished given his physical limitations. We all know it.

I just hope that the big brains in the front office don't let him get away, that they let him play his entire career as a Rocket and then he can just move right into a role as a scout or an assistant, pretty much follow exactly Rudy's path, and that some day he is introduced as the new coach of the Houston Rockets. :)

But that's juts my own meager opinion. Anyone else on this team who would make a good coach?

The worst players tend to make the best coaches.

So this means Hasheem Thabeet is destined to be a Hall of Famer as a coach.
