The reason why Francis didnt make the cut for the 3pt shootout is because he hasnt made enough 3ptrs. He doesnt really seem to be a 3pth specialist because that isnt his main method of scoring. Also, 3ptrs made is more important than 3pt FG% because it means that 3pt shooting is your primary way to score. The only exception is Wesley Person because he was able to make more than half of his attempts. Some players werent picked for one reason or another like Michael Redd and Ray Allen, but maybe they declined and we just dont know it. Overall, I think they did a fair job of selecting players. By the way, who do you pick to win the shootout? I think Wesley Person will come away with it this year. This doesnt need to be moved to another board because I am talking about Francis in the same thread. (Any case anybody was gonna...)
The shootout is missing someone very important. In my opinion, this man would win the contest. His name.....Jon Barry!! Jon has been on target this year from downtown. Besides, who wouldn't want to see Brent and Jon go at it for a little extra spice in ATL. A little sibbling rivalry is always a good thing. Oh, and on a sidenote, Jon is shooting better than his bro this year.
Wesley Person's NBA Profile Person is 49/97 Steve Frabcis' NBA Profile Wink is 49/110 The 3 point field goals made is all there.... so is it the MAKES, the ATTEMPTS, or the %?
I don't remember Craig Hodges ever leading the league in 3 pointers made or attempted - but he was always a great shootout contestant. It is my opinion that the competition would be the best if you included a) the most efficient 3 point shooters (and certainly 3 pointers attempted would play a role - with Steve's 110 attempted more than Wesley's 97) judged by % and b) players whose stroke/style of shooting is one that won't "tire" them out too much. Anyway, I'll actually be there this year so I just hope it is a fun competition and that the dunk contest lives up the the good years of the past and not the bad ones (ala last year).
