This is the crack talent that's supposed to reform the banking system into something more robust?

My gtalk status message all day yesterday was this:

people who don't understand finance should not be on the financial services committee. maxine waters, i am looking at you.

I watched some of that hearing. She's truly an idiot.

Basso, I find it interesting that you almost never had anything to post on the economy during the last however many so years you've been posting. It doesn't seem to be your issue, only to root against america when the democrats are in power.

anyway, I digress, we don't elect congress to be bankers, or engineers working on our highway system, or soilders setting military policy. its a dumb thread as usual, I can't see the video at work but I don't need to.

hopefully they and the president put the correct people in place to help guide us through this, unlike the last president putting the Michael brown in charge of fema

there is no magical solution. the reason tim geithner's answer was complex is because the issue is complex. tim geithner wants to the banks and wallstreet to become involved in valuing these assets to speed up the process. they should have been written down a year and a half ago, but the banks waited till we got in this crisis to face the problem now they don't want to be forced to sell the assets below value. its a negotiation and they have to be involved if they want to be saved.

there wasn't any magical solution to katrina's aftermath either, but that didn't stop you from making brown the a scapegoat for 100 years of corruption by local and state politicians.

    Thanks Basso,

    That was entertaining!

Maxine Waters, "Sarah, why do you keep on charging me fees?"
Sarah Palin, "Maxine, because I can see Russia from my backyard."

How do those idiots get elected?

no one excuses the state and local officials, and their failure doesn't excuse fema's response

I think ditto head fits so much better. You should spread it around on the liberal forums. When you see everyone repeating Katrina call them ditto heads.

Sure looks like it. Of course, they throw it out without really saying why and knowing they defended it at the time, so it doesn't make a lot of sense. For example, here are two basso comments in this thread...

    and two posts later...

Now, first he slams Geithner as being the Brownie of the current crisis, presumably implying he's an incompetent in way over his head and then he defends Brownie by saying he didn't get a fair shake. There's really no way to square this circle unless you think basso admires Geithner and is concerned about the things people are saying about him because it's making him a scapegoat for 40 years of corruption by bankers. Somehow, I doubt that's the case.

stop voting a straight democratic or republican ticket maybe? This country insists upon voting for idiots then complains year after year when nothing positive happens.

I think the main problem is the incumbents get to draw the district lines. The move all of the liberals in one district and all the conservatives in the other to make sure they get reelected. Then the hardcore voter has the choice of voting for a ditto head who will at least give them the vote they want on the country dividing social issues or a fresh new face that is a complete polor opposite of them politically.

Naah. If Geithner previous work experience had been as head of the Westminster Kennel Club, maybe you could compare him to Brownie.

How is wingnut an insult? Dittohead means no mind of their own. Just see a story or read an article then repeat it. No thought needed! Wingnut is more like a crazy politcally slanted person. Possibly a genius but just slanted politically. What thought does it take to say Katrina?
