Omar Wants 'Extinction of America' LONDON (AP) - Defiant in the face of stunning setbacks, Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mohammed Omar said in a radio interview Thursday that he'd rather die than join ``an evil government'' with Afghanistan's former leaders. ``We will not accept a government of wrong-doers. We prefer death than to be a part of an evil government,'' Mullah Omar told the British Broadcasting Corp., dismissing a U.N. proposal for a multiethnic Afghan government. Mullah Omar also warned of a larger strategy - the ``destruction of America'' - without specifying what actions may be taken. The BBC asked the Pashto-language questions by satellite phone through an intermediary who passed them onto the Taliban leader through a hand-held radio. His exact location was unclear, but the private Afghan Islamic Press agency reported earlier Thursday that Omar was in a safe place and in charge of his troops. Northern alliance advances, backed by U.S.-led bombing, have cost the Taliban their grip on the Afghan capital, Kabul, and deprived them of huge swaths of territory. Mullah Omar acknowledged that his forces ``may have made some mistakes,'' and was in control of only four or five Afghan provinces. ``But it is not important how many provinces we have under our control,'' he said. ``Once we did not have a single province, and then the time came when we had all the provinces, which we have lost in a week.'' He called the Taliban pullback from urban centers part of a larger strategy. ``The current situation in Afghanistan is related to a bigger cause - that is the destruction of America.'' ``If God's help is with us, this will happen within a short period of time - keep in mind this prediction,'' he said. ``The real matter is the extinction of America, and God willing, it will fall to the ground.'' ``I tell you, keep this in mind. This is my prediction,'' he warned. ``You believe it or not - it's up to you. But we will have to wait and see.''
mullah muhammed omar is NOT crescent fresh. BUT. . . he's only scary if you believe in his "God". that's why he talks the way he does, is because he truly believes that his "God" wants the destruction of America just like he does. all of his confidence in this war comes from that belief. if you also believe that God is on omar's side, then I'd say to be scared. otherwise, don't be skeerd.
Yeah, I'm sure thats on God's list of things to do... First off, there isn't a religious class in Islam so don't think Mullah means priest, of course these guys think their heaven sent. And after what they do to women and minorities in that country, I don't know any God that would back that psycho. Its a power trip, Absolute Power Corrupts, these guys know their finished so now they want to bring God into the picture. If I remember right, the Prophet of Islam's Wife, Khadija, was one of his most trusted advisors. She did not walk around with a sheet covering every inch of her body and refrain from being educated. In reality she was a business women and a successful one. I, as a muslim, compare the Taliban to a larger version of the Jones Town religious cult, and I wish they would end themselves the same way. They abuse their power and manipulate the religion to suit their own interests. One of God's Cardinal sins is "Pride" Now they have waay too much pride to admit defeat. What ever will we do.......I believe in the God of Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad, these people see themselves as representatives of God to force people to do God's bidding. It's sad that people use the name of religion to do bad things, but it happens on nearly every continent, and nearly every religion....sad, but true....I'd much rather hang with a non-believer than someone who is extreme and distorts the religious ideal for their own gain.
Omar and Bin Laden must think themselves to be prophets of Islam. In actuality, they are nothing more than psychos who defame Islam by twisting it to brainwash others into believing in their cause....which is basically do what we want or else die! I guess part of their big plan was to get all the people of Islam to rise up against the West. That worked out well. I wonder how all the Islamic people of the world view the freed people in Kabul and the other freed provinces now. Infected by the West? Or free? Do they still think we are wrong for attacking after seeing the Afghan people smile for the first time in years? It puts a smile on my face to see people free to shave their beards, remove their veils, and feel freedom for the first time in years. All we want is a government representative of all of the Aghan people! How is that wrong? Granted, the West has not always right in their foreign policy. Show me a government that is perfect and has not made mistakes! Iraq created their own situation by attacking their neighbor...Saddam killed those children...not us. Saddam cut himself off from the rest of the world...not us. Palestine is a situation we need to get worked out. Even if that gets worked out, I fear terrorism will never go away because the most extreme will not be happy co-existing with Israelites. They would rather defensive jihad. nuff said
I thought Bush (and many ME allies) had said that the Taliban would not be represented in any type of government set up after this is all over with. If so, then Omar doesn't have to worry about joining or being asked to join the evil government. Also, he'll glad to know that most Americans willingly accept his alternative.
