Why is a Senator from NY and a Senator from SC leading the charge on immigration reform? Their states share no borders with the country and culture largely responsible for the Latin population. I would think a senator from the border states would understand the complexities and nuances of immigration reform.

NY may not have a ton of Mexicans or very good Mexican food, but there are a ton of Latinos in NYC, largely from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Colombia, and various other less delicious countries.
