Everett was named starter at SS.

Hopefully he's as good as advertised.

I second that hope. He hit over .300 this spring, which is nice. He made some uncharacteristic errors in the field, but I am hoping that can be attributed to him pushing too hard competing for the starting job.

since he has the job he should now go into "operation shutdown" until the season starts.

Let's hope it's not "operation meltdown" when the season begins.. ;)

Let's hope it's not "Operation Meltdown" when the postseason begins...

(Or am I getting too ahead of myself here?)

Thank God. I had developed an involuntary twitch every time an Astro opponent hit a ball towards SS.

All Evertt has to do offensively to be effective (particularly in the 8 hole) is hit .240-.250, run the bases and be patient enough at the plate to draw some walks (probably a more important stat than his batting average).
