For you fitness buffs, what is better, short and intense cardio or long and slow cardio. I used to do like 30 minutes but then I wouldn't have time or energy to lift weights. I think I'm going to lean towards 15 minutes and then hit the weights. I don't think I need alot more muscle mass, so I do like 15 reps with very low weight. I want to look leaner.

Also, do you guys work abs everyday.

LSD (long, slow, distance) is always considered better for trimming and increasing stamina.

Short fast can often be a little traumatic for your body, if you do not already have the right base fitness. It will also cause more of a bulking and shortening of muscles.

If you want long, lean muscles, do long slow cardio and light weight, high reps.

    My thing is

Run for 30 minutes at a slow pace in a.m.

At lunch I do 1 hour on stairmaster using 'fat burn plus'

Then in the evening I run for about 30 minutes at a slow pace.

This method seems to keep my metabolism at a high rate.

I've also found that the stairmaster makes the run in the evening much easier. When I lifted at lunch I found the runs to be brutal. However, lifting is a good thing because you build mass and burn calories all at once.

By the way, I have found that music seems to increase your form and stamina when excercising. It makes all the difference in the world for me. Without it I often struggle more than if I had it.

Yeah, I'm taking a lot of showers. Funny thing is I used to hate showers, but after a good run a cold shower feels great.

Ellyptical machines, in my opinion, are the best machine. you hardly feel like you are working out, but when your done, you know you did. Unfortunately, I work out at a free gym and they don't have one. If you want to buy a good one it will cost you an arm and a leg. at least 2,500$. The cheap ones aren't very good.

I don't use treadmills. I'd get hurt like Alou.

In my case I don't count calories, but I should. It certainly helps. It's all about how many grams of fat and how much carb you put into your body. I'm probably pretty high on both counts. right now I'm eating a lot of Salmon. I just stock up when it sells for about $3.99 per pound at grocery store. Seems like a light and healthy food. George Foreman grill cooks it up real fast and it tastes great without anything on it. It does smell up your place though.

wow !! That's alot of showers to take. Do you guys actually count calories ? I'm kind of obsessed with doing that. What do you think of the eliptical machine ?
