my university has always had a pretty tight filter where it's difficult to find pics of women and all that type of thing - but it's never been a major problem to me -- until now.

for some bleeping reason they have improved (or made worse) their filter that it now blocks searches on google and even blocks BBS THREADS! not all, but anything with any suggestive words. i can't read the chuck norris thread right now, and i don't know why. hell, i can't even go to the top 30 website. probably because it says the word that begins with an "s" and ends with an "x" with an "e" in between. (i'm trying to keep it so that i can revisit this thread still - so please don't use suggestive words...seriously).

i need a program or link that i can use to bypass this stuff. plz help - for the sake of an innocent man just wanting to read the BBS during class.

You can break into the student financial aid office and steal the money to buy your own computer. ;)

[EDIT] I used the word with the "e" in the middle of "s" and "x". Did it not let you in after a while?
    ;)

Anyway... how about translating it with world.altavista.com into "Francoix" then back to l'Englais?

Could you put Firefox onto a USB memory stick and just run that (instead of the locally-installed-and-filtered IE)?

Don't you, as a student, pay some FEES toward computer use??? Texas allows the use of computers for "research purposes" to search ANYTHING. We can't prohibit anyone from searching anything, much less just going to the GOOGLE site. Something's definitely gone wrong with the administration system there... :(

hmm, i guess it's easier to physically hack into an office than it is to virtually hack into network system.

    ;)

i went to a school that limited our internet access also. if there are enough computer nerds on your campus (and im sure there are), you just need to make friends with one long enough to get a proxy server address from him. that should do the trick.
