Eh, I could see it on both sides, one hand it's a kid playing around and it's legal. On the other hand, it is unsportsmanlike conduct, it could lead to a fight too if the players get too disrespectful.
Not impressed!! Dime a dozen kids that have mad dribbling skills! Hardcore attempts at getting attention are usually fatal for team sports!! Has a great future working as a Globetrotter doe!! ....... ....... .......
It's sad this was called a tech. It's nothing but a good show. Ref was sad the spotlight wasn't on him.
This is that kid from Houston, right? The video looks a few years old. Dancing on the court is his entire shtick. He uses it to grow his Instagram following. He seems to care more about his Instagram and dancing than he does basketball, which is fine by me, he's not getting paid to play HS basketball and the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter.
I think the ref could have called a time out, called player and coach over and say he would T up the player and coach if he did it again. Then the team could put ball in play again. But honestly, I have no prob with T-ing up the player. Taunting and unsportsman-like conduct is the basis for technical fouls, even the NBA. In high school it could even resulted in a one-game suspension as abusive behavior towards the other team. The fact that parents/friends in the stands egged the player on simply aggravated the situation. A few years ago I was at high school JV tournament at the Salem Lutheran Church where parents and players started a brawl after one player on a team thought another player had "dissed a player". The brawl started at the end of game handshake line.
