How about doing some big shiznet to try and get this UNDERACHIEVING club into next years dance. For all you capologists and gurus out there, I need your assistance. I don' t know squat about salaries...who makes what, when, where and how. I just now talent to some extent. So I will propose three moves and you tell me if they are possible within the 285,304 pages of the salary guidelines: 1) Eddie Griffin, Cuttino Mobley and the number 1 pick to the Clippers for Elton Brand and Andre Miller. Move Francis two the 2 guard. 2) Eddie Griffin and Nachbar to the LA Clippers for Dunleavy. Draft some power with the lottery pick. Dunleavy can be that guy to hit the outside shot consistently when someone drives to the basket or when Yao gets double teamed. He wouldn't want to jack the ball up every damn time he touches it. And he is a smart player. We need some brains on this team. 3) Again, Eddie Griffin, Cuttino Mobley for Shane Battier and a second round pick. Then use the first pick to draft someone like T.J. Ford or Dwyane Wade or someone like that and still move Francis to the 2 guard or leave him at the point...depending on the draft pick. Like I said, I don't know these salaries. These are just thoughts and ideas. Basically, I want to trade just about the two dumbest players in the Western Conference for some brains and some players who don't need to jack it up everytime they touch it or someone who won't hesitate to take a big shot. Any thoughts?
Apparently that's not all you don't you. 1) Yeah, we haven't heard this idea before. And for the millionth time- Andre Miller will solve nothing. He gets great stats on paper, but has he ever won in the NBA? No. Does he make his teammates better? No. 2) I'll overlook the fact that you don't even know what team Dunleavy plays for to focus on the ridiculous idea itself. First off, since when has Dunleavy proven he can hit the NBA 3 consistently? Did I miss something here? I like Dunleavy, but another undersized young and inexperienced player is not what we need. And fyi- Boki's game is very similar to Dunleavy. Give the kid some time. fyi again- we can't use our draft pick to get power. We owe the pick. 3) Again, we don't have the first round pick, not to mention that TJ Ford is not coming out. Second- what good is a second round pick gonna get us? And lastly, how does Shane Battier and his 38% 3 pt. percentage fill our need for a conistent outside shooter, or for a tough power forward. The ideas on this board never cease to amaze me. When will you people ever learn that not every team is willing to trade us every player we want, even if it does fit within the salary requirments? I'm done.
Almu....thought you'd fallen off the face of the planet. Or maybe I've just been missing your posts. You missed Smeggy's Big Trip! Surely you must be mad-disappointed.
Still here, Lynus. Its that people like Guent say "Apparently that's not all you don't you ". I don't know what that means. But it discourages me from posting. Plus...as Guent has eloquently pointed out, I appear out of the loop. So, posting requires careful analysis and my brain is not at all into that type of strain. And NOBODY told me about Smegs trip!! Hello!! I have email!!!
Ignore that rude little **** Almu. Unfortunately there are lots like him onboard these days. fwiw, we owe the Grizz our first rounder this year. and what? you dont go to the Hangout? there have only been a million threads about Smeg's big trip this year... Pics are over there now, go take a look...more to come.
Man, its always sad when an old stanby posts and has no idea what's going on. Its like the senile old Grandpa no one wants to visit.
Great stats, doesn't make his teammates better, and doesn't win in the NBA? You sure you're not talking about Stevie? I would take a chance on Miller. We need a PG and LaC appears to be willing to trade Miller. I'd do it
Um, yeah, you're a bit out of the loop....a whole slew of us got together for BW3s, a bbq at HeyP's, and the Seattle game. You ought to check the Hangout at least every once in awhile....!
Almu - Here's some opinions. Brand is a restricted FA this summer. If he accepts any offer, the Clipps have enough cap space to outbid almost anyone except Denver. IOW, if Brand tests FA waters the Clipps wil lock him up long-term. His best bet is to stay with them one more year and be unrestricted next summer. There is also called they Stepian Rule which disallows a team to trade their #1 in two succesive years. I am not sure if that rule could be invoked, because the Rox actually gave the Grizz the pick 4 years ago. But I am not sure. Unlike many on this board, I like MD Jr. However, Troy Murphy has been seriously bustin' his butt at PF and the Warriors are really high on him. Doubt they'd have an interest in EG. Part of what GSW does will be predicated on re-signing Gilbert Arenas. That's probably Priority 1 for them. Battier may be available since the Grizz have Mike Miller when his back gets better. If I'm Jerry West and I have Lo Wright, Stromile Swift and Gasol as my core of "bigs", why do I need Griffin? I believe that they are also getting good play from Mike Batiste. Same thing with Cuttino - Battier can back up both Miller and Person. Mobley costs more and can't play SF (Rockets small ball is not realy what I think of when I think of a real SF). My idea for lighting a fire under the Rox is to find out what the Knicks want for Sprewell. Anybody but Yao and maybe Francis and the teams should talk.
First...Mike Dunleavy is with the Golden State Warriors. And he has been horrible. He's useless! Bostjan Nachbar could be as good as him or better!...or worse. Cuttino and Eddie both make fairly moderate amounts. Elton Brand and Andre Miller could both be making MAX. Not gonna work...I wish. And we don't have a 1st round draft pick this season. And...Shane Battier would make our team much smarter. But he's not that good...sure we get the 1st round pick. But we would suck for another season. And yeah. Memphis has our pick. Then they give us theirs.. And TJ Ford is not coming out. Good ideas...just impossible.
