Rockets lost 99-92 Griffin got in early foul trouble and played just 3 minutes in the first half. He was just 3-11 from the field. He finished with 9 points, 8 boards (all defensive) and 2 blocks (he had 3 blocks waived off because of reaching in calls by other Rockets) in just over 27 minutes of play. He did hit the only three-pointer he took. Terence Morris was 5-10 from the floor for 11 points and 5 boards in 33 minutes of play. Langhi, who played 38 minutes, had 23 points (also 6 boards) to lead the Rockets. Colson had 22 on 8-14 shooting to go with 8 assists (though he had 7 turnovers). Jason Collier was just 1-6 from the floor for 4 points and 4 fouls in 24 minutes. Venson Hamilton had 10 and 7 boards in 22 minutes of play. Odom had 23 to lead the Clips. Keyon Dooling and Jeff McInnis each had 14. This info comes from Alec Walker. just box scores Clutch??? I am expecting video clips of Griffin at least...quit slacking and do your job! thanks for the info [This message has been edited by ChenZhen (edited July 13, 2001).]
Why would the coach take him out of the game, if he missed a few shots (in the first few minuts). If you cannot foul out, in the summer league, that probably pissed EG off to be benched on his debut night. ------------------
What really kind of makes all this sobering is the fact that Langhi and Colson lit it up for 20+. Hmm... boy that competition must suck. Even if Griffin goes off for 30, does it matter? ------------------ "I'll tell you this, the older I get, the less I trust people. It's true. Thanks for the info Clutch. I don't think Eddie Griffin had that bad of a game. 9 points and 8 rebounds is much better than Cato usually did in a season. But like Barbourdg said, he probably had jitters. As for Morris, I'm very impressed. I've liked his game for a while, and believe he has great potential. ------------------ The Number One Cuttino Mobley Fan! Don't hate..Congratulate!
Exactly DoD. Donnell Harvey and Bo Outlaw dominate, which says something about the level of competition. Then again, Nowitzki's breakout season coincided with his strong showing in this league the summer before. ------------------ matirmama, alabdhabhuumikatva
Disappointing.....but I'm sure that he'll get used to playing the NBA style game shortly. I'd say give him 2-3 more games to get adjusted. He should explode in the Rocky Mountain Revue. He is going against inferior NBA talent... Another thing, this just proves that even outstanding frosh like Griff will have trouble adjusting to the NBA, even in summer league. Look at Troy Murphy and Shane Battier. With 4 years of schooling, they have been lighting it up in summer league. Of course Jason Richardson has been too, but 2 years of schooling under a great coach like Izzo is equal to 4 years of schooling from most other coaches. ------------------ "I look kind of dumpy. Oh dear God, the Rockets have a player with the nickname "Moo Moo" on their summer league roster : Roderick "Moo Moo" Blakeny. We now have a Mo, a Mooch, and a Moo Moo. Anyway, someone refresh my memory... who is T. Hamilton? Also to note is that they say Cato is not scheduled to play in the summer league games... why is he there then? Or is he still hurt? ------------------ "I'll tell you this, the older I get, the less I trust people. It's true. It's damn true." -- gr8-1 going through some growing pains.
Here's the game summary: Rockets summary Rockets lose Lamar Odom took over down the stretch to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 99-92 victory over the Rockets on the opening night of the Los Angeles Summer League. Odom scored six points in the last 1:11 after the Rockets had taken a one-point lead. Forward Dan Langhi led the Rockets with 23 points. Guard Sean Colson added 22. First-round draft pick Eddie Griffin, hampered by foul trouble, had nine points and eight rebounds in 28 minutes. Odds and ends Rockets center Kelvin Cato practiced with the summer league team this week, but is not scheduled to play in the four games. ... Point guard Sean Colson has been battling a pulled groin muscle, though he played with little difficulty Thursday. But as a precaution, the Rockets will bring in an extra point guard, Roderick "Moo Moo" Blakeny. Blakeny played in the International Basketball League last season after starring for South Carolina State. ------------- MOO MOO!
Whats up with the illegal defensive calls? ------------------ Keep Mo Ta & now we have Ta Mo [This message has been edited by r-fan-since-81 (edited July 13, 2001).]
Is T. Hamilton that huge guy they had on the roster a couple of years back that sat on the bench with back trouble the whole time? ------------------
Originally posted by Achebe: why did they call illegals? I was wondering that same thing. Perhaps it is what they are going to call the new defensive 3 seconds in the lane. ------------------ Raef to Rocks in '01-'02!

Screw up on the AP or Chronicle's part, I think. Venson Hamilton plays for the Rockets.... there is also a Zendon Hamilton playing for the Clippers squad. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
