Looks like the selection committee just wanted to be sure we were rid of the frauds early on. Good job Wyoming, way to stop that Gonzaga b****ing.
Yep. They may have let all that attention get to their head. BTW, I picked KU to win it all, but I'm kind of rooting against them now. That last shot by Drew Gooden was total bush league. Unnecessary. I don't know if he was padding his stats or the margin of victory, but it wasn't needed.
All teams have a chance to be upset. The reason you b**** about a bad seed is that you feel that, over the course of the season, you earned the right to play the easiest possible opponent to reduce the chance of said upset. It seems being upset simply enhances the argument that they were seeded badly if you believe they are a good team, because they should never have been playing an 11 seed opponent. Same thing happened with Texas last year. If we had been seeded as most Texas fans felt we should have (4 or 5 seed), we would have played an easier first round opponent and had a better chance to advance further. Sure, you have to take advantage of the opportunity, but the b****ing is that they didn't get as easy a route as they should have, unless you believe the better team always wins a basketball game (which would make it difficult to explain how teams split games), rather than the better team on any given day winning a basketball game.
This makes me happy just because I was tired of hearing every talk show radio host scream and yell about the seeding. Now, we might have to hear about it a little longer, but I think several of them will just shut up now. That makes me laugh.
While I agree with Major theoretically, I still feel a bit vindicated. They didn't even take the game to the buzzer.
After all that ranting I did on their behalf when they got a bad seed the 'Zags go out and do this?! Bastards
Zaga Lost!!!! Yes!!!! Beatting Texas was the only victory that showed they deserved a #6 seed and they did that early. Pepperdine and St Johns are also good victories, but do they merit a #6 seed?
Stockton went to Gonzaga right? I dont even watch college basketball, but I am glad that b****'s college lost in the first round.
Tourney time is always unpredictable. Major brings up a good point. I thought UT was robbed last year, but they just ran into the wrong team. To their credit, Temple made it to the elite 8. In this case, the seeding really did hurt UT. I'm not sure you can say that about Gonzaga yet. I think Gonzaga moved to swiftly from a team "that was just happy to be there" to a team moaning and groaning about their seed. Just play the game.
Temple was also the precise team to beat Texas. Texas was all about athleticism last year. Temple was a team with perfect technique. You needed to be able to shoot over their zone. Texas couldn't.
Geez, it almost sounds like you are rooting against Texas. I know you're not, but the tone of your post, if one can detect that sounds like you want us to lose. Or, maybe you're just confident we'll lose.
I'm sick and tired of hearing UT can't do this UT can't do that, especially from our own fans. The Eagles have no business being in this tournament(sorry haven) and while they could come out trying to prove the country wrong I don't see them winning. The key will be JT(Thomas). I don't believe BC has an answer for him. Also, we need good play from Ivey and Mouton. I feel a lot better about our chances with Ford at the helm. He gives us a whole new dimension. Plus, Mouton has really stepped up his game this season. Also, don't forget the players remember last years tough first round loss to Temple and while I won't make a prediction so that I don't jinx them I expect a good game tommorrow night. As far as Gonzaga, do you realize they led most of the way in a game which they shot 26 percent from the floor. That should tell you how big of an upset Wyoming pulled to an extent. Also, the low seed and the fact this game was at a Mountain West Conference court(NM) which Wyoming is a part of didn't help matters. Basically, the Zags played about their worst game and Wyoming about their best and barely won.
Yeah, whad DVauthrin said. Gonzaga had a great season and deserved a better seed than #6. I don't see how anyone could disagree with that. They were ranked number 6 in the nation for goodness sakes! However, it was ridiculous some of the diatribes that were made about the whole unfairness of it all. Its definitely something that should have been mentioned in passing, but it was blown way out of proportion. Sure, a lot of you can say they didn't deserve it because they lost, but that's a bunch of hogwash. That's right! HOGWASH! They just had a really bad game, as good teams often do in the NCAA Tournament, and they were upset, as good teams often are in the NCAA tournament. It doesn't mean they didn't deserve a higher seed. But, as far as I know Gonzaga, themselves did not participate in all the "whining." Their coach said he was "surprised" (which he damn well should've been), but did not say he was upset. So don't confuse the media making a big deal out of it to Gonzaga making a big deal about it. Its just seems pretty superficial to me to root against Gonzaga simply because the media made a big deal about something that the zags had no control over. And its even more superficial to hope they lose simply because Stockton went to the school twenty years ago! Who cares! If you were really a college basketball fan you would probably admire how a small school, could manage to acheive all the success they have the past couple of seasons simply by playing good, fundamental basketball.
I don't agree with this. How does being upset in the first round lead to the conclusion that they were seeded poorly? Being upset, in my mind, proves that they didnt deserve to be seeded much higher. Did they really earn a higher seed? They play in a relatively weaker conference, as Pepperdine helped prove yesterday, their RPI was not too enormously high (in the 20's) and much of their pub is solely because they have made the Sweet 16 the prior two years. Maybe they should have gotten a 4 or 5, but their performance yesterday, to me, shows that the 6 seed wasnt as crazy as earlier though.
Not fair! A team shouldn't be penalized because no other good teams want to come and play them. They were fourth in the nation in margin of victory, so eventhough they had a weak schedule they were winning convincingly.
