"That's our job, we're leaders on this team, everybody else just follows," Mobley said. "We were breaking down their team and finding the open man. Last year we beat them twice, it's no big deal. Now we just have to go out and beat the other teams like that."

    This was from NBA.com

We have good team chemistry, lets not rock the boat.

He is not getting carried away. That is the swagger you need to have to win. You gotta believe in yourself.

May i ask Why Not Doc.

I mean why the hell not? Lets rock the boat an tip the boat over. This teams young and inexperienced, you know, so, so what if we get a little water in the damn boat.

    500 here we come!

I guess I should have edited the quote a little better. Cat can dis the Lakers all he wants, I was concerned about the way he refered to his teammates. A running back NEVER takes credit for his own glory. It may be a 60/40 thing, but he always gives the credit to the offensive line. Likewise a point guard/team leader always gives credit to his teammates for the win. Instead of "I created shots for my teammates." it should be "My teammates knocked down the shots when they had the opportunity."

It's just semantics, but Hakeem knows what I'm talking about.

Cat is the stud on this team in my opinion. Steve Francis may be the media darling but the workhorse and most CLUTCH player on this team right now is Mobley, hands down. I hope he keeps building in confidence. He should be confident the way he's playing overall right now. As young as he is, the sky's the limit.

i have to disagree. Francis is the stud. Mobley is great and everything and hes one of my favorite players but steve is the leader, clutch player, etc. you can ask probably any of the front office and they would say stevie is the leader.

Doc, I know what you're talking about. The greatest thing about the Rockets nowadays is the team is a big love-fest. A lot of that is the Francis-Mobley thing, but a lot of the team is a part of it as well (like Williams or Moochie). I'd hate to see Mobley alienate the rest of them.

3Rings is right. Showing you are a leader and acting like a leader is a lot more affective that telling people you are a leader.

I heard on one of the radio talk shows that in the locker room after the Laker game that Cat was saying not everyone playing hard every game and that if EVERYONE would play hard we would win. A LEADER does not diss their teammates to the media like that. A leader talks to the slacker one on one in private.

I don't see anything wrong with making a statement like that as long as he doesn't publicly name names. Also I think it may still be too early to ask anyone other than Dream to be a leader;those types of roles are supposed to develope naturally on a team and everyone will know (who the leader is)when it does.Teams need more than one great player but only one leader and I don't think either Cat or Steve has proven worthy of the moniker YET.

I must admit I flinched when I read that on ESPN.com. Mobley doesn't need to start feuding with the rest of the team... if Shaq and Kobe can be gracious, so can Mobley and Francis.

It's fine to compliment himself and Francis... but when it even borders on contempt for his teammates... it has to stop.

True leaders never have to announce they are "leaders".

For making this ridiculous comment, Cat should be ISO-lated in a closet and forced to listen to a ball dribbling for 3 hours.
