so long story short i kinda had a run-in with him, and since i pride myself in knowing a lot about sports, it was a lil embarassing to know nothing about him. heres what i know: he played for the oilers a long time ago. thats about it. im in one of the 'younger' genereations so to speak, so ill need some old-timers (much respect to the old school) to fill me in. as always, the help is appreciated.
I have a 16YO cat I named after Zeke Moore! He was a starting CB for the Oilers for many years in the latter 60s through the early 70s. He was good enough to start for a long time in the NFL. In 1973 I worked at summer camp for the Oilers at Shriner Institute in Kerrville. Good times for a 19YO football fan. What kind of run-in did you have?
Cool, but that was a rough year to be an Oiler fan! Zeke Moore was great. He started at CB for the Oilers for many years. Not to derail this thread, but I recently had a run in with Kenny Houston. Now if we could only find Hoyle Granger....he was my fave back then!
well zeke was working on some project in conjucntion witht the city of houston (sidewalks?) and I met him there. my dad also happened to be there (works for the city). when i saw my dad some time later, he told me that zeke had given him an autographed photo of himself to give to me along with a picture of the all-oilers team, taken in i think 89' with the great oilers of the past (earl campbell: not pictured ) so i thought that was really cool of him to do that. any other info? i dont think those pics would have much value would they? and besides, they have intrinsic value
If Zeke just gave it to your dad, without your dad asking....it seems fairly cheesy to me. As for value...probably very little outside of some old die hard Oiler fans....I will take it off your hands for $1. DD
Zeke Moore, ahhhh ... those were the days. I was but a youngin', but I remember 'ol # 22. I have his card from '75 still. Off the top of my head, I remember him scratching his cornea during the latter stages of his career, either in a game or at practice or something, & I believed he sported some White Shoes Johnson specs at the bitter end. Can't remember for sure about the latter, but I DO remember that scratched cornea. Ask him how his cornea is, & I'll bet you he freaks out that you know such irrelevant info.
I need to write my memoirs of that summer: Bill Peterson, Sid Gillman, Tom Williams, John Matuszak, Dan Pastorini et al. Jerry LeVias used to call once in awhile and ask Tom Wiliams to re-acquire him from the Chargers. I worked a sideline job through the season and got a free ticket to the Super Bowl in Houston that January.
