Wow...21-0 in the first half? Michigan is really working them over. Edwards is catching balls all over the field.
Lloyd Carr decides to go into the half with the 14-point lead and the reporter asks him "Why didn't you try to drive it down the field and get a field goal?" Carr answers "I'm not going answer a stupid question like that!" He walks off. Classic!
Lloyd Carr is an *******. If it couldn't possibly affect UT, I'd be rooting for OSU right now. I'm pretty close, regardless. Completely uncalled for.
I never had a viewpoint of Lloyd Carr. To me, he was just a good coach of a good team in a conference I had no affiliation with as a fan. But then I saw this; what an ass.
I thought it was hilarious. I'm not saying that I would have been too happy as a journalist if he would've responded to me like that, but I thought it was funny. Usually on those halftime-coach-running-to-lockerroom-interviews, it is the same boring crap, but today, at least it was interesting. I don't blame him for doing what he did (I would've have done it as a football coach as well) but I would've said, "I don't want to give OSU anything easy and take a needless risk with a good lead."
I hate when they try to interview coaches in the middle of games like that (yes, halftime is still in the middle of a game). Anything that mocks this stupid practice is great with me.
Exactly, most all the time they ask a coach a question or two at half, you figure he would be used to it and not have to act like an ass. Even Michigan fans should be disappointed by his remark.
I agree with that too. I just get annoyed by those interviews done when coaches just want to get to the locker room. The worst one was Mack's at the OU game. "We just can't stop them".
I'm at work right now so I didn't get to see the Lloyd Carr thing in question, but what he did doesn't sound any worse than what Mike Leach does. Is Leach an *******? Carr is probably tired of all these questions coming at his way for not being able to win this game since they have lost it the last 2 years. I would cut the guy a little slack.
What a great game! Carr doesn't have responsibility to entertain those reporters, what do you expect him to explain the decision? Although, "stupid" is a bit excessive. Go blue.
If I had to answer questions while I was trying to work, I'd probably be an ass too. Face it, these kinds of interviews are dumb. Nothing of substance is ever learned here. I wish every coach answered like that. The same goes for the stupid Jim Gray/Craig Sager player interviews right before halftime.
Once again, a potential BCS controversy works itself out. Now, all we need is for LSU and USC to lose to reinject some chaos into this thing.
It's not like Carr was ambushed unexpectedly by the reporter. He knew there were questions coming and if he didn't want to answer them, he should have just told the reporter he wasn't going to answer anything and kept walking.
