    Status of the rockets
We definitely need a big man who can rebound and defend, and a small forward with good defense. We have plenty of scorers on this team, we need an intimidator and a work horse.

    Francis
I have had enough of catering to Steve Francis.I love him as a player and I see him as our future, but we cannot let this guy dictate every facet of our team. The thought that this guy would leave if we traded his best bud Cat is ridiculous. He is a star, not a superstar, yet, but he has done many things that IMO have made him look quite unprofessional, so far in his career. The denial to play for the team he was drafted for, the TMo choice is a joke, and the thought that he can choose who stays and who is drafted is not good for this organization. He did not step up and comfort the greatest player in our rockets history, when Dream was going through negotiations. He attempts to be the leader of this organization off the court, but has yet to accomplish that feat on the court.Granted he has more upside than he has down, Steve has yet to fully understand the team concept.I know he is still young but until he quits being selfish on and off the court, he may achieve superstardom, but he will develop Vince Carter syndrome.

    YAO
We need a big guy who can rebound and play defense.I don't know if Yao will be a superstar, but if he can give us a big presence as a role player, I want him.I don't think he is going to demand the ball, but when he gets it may end up surprsing us. I see him and EG as a great shot blocking tandem, and that will have to help us.I think we need a big guy more than anything. There are no sure bets in this darft obviously, but we should take the most obvious center, that can help this team.I feel the potential is there just as much as any other player in this draft. What would it hurt to bring in a huge presence, who can pass and draw and punish defenderfs from the perimeter as well as inside. His inside game may not be there yet, but who knows maybe he will be similar to Shaq in the respect that all you can do is foul this guy under the basket. He's weak, so is every other guy just now arriving at the NBA.If he can rebound and give our guards an outlet pass, the assist is just as good as if he had scored himself.IMO you give this guy a chance just as much as anybody else, because noone has proven anything yet.You meet your needs and you go from there.

    SF
I would love to have a complimentary SF to Steve and Cat, but Rudy scares me away from efectively using this position. Not to mention I feel our backcourt is crowded as it is.Meaning I do not want a bunch of guards running this team.We saw the good and bad effects of a completely guard oriented offense and it just does not cut it.This position is IMO a utility man, a defensive specialists and playmaker, but not a scorer.I want a guy who can score, but only if he will dive for loose balls and rebound first and foremost. This position could be critical to our success, but the front court has to be addressed before anything.I haven't done a whole lot of scouting but IMO if there is a big man who could just potentially affect the other team, like EG did this year, we have to take him.I feel that SF and guards are going to continue to emerge in the future drafts, but a big man is hard to find.

    WHO KNOWS?
I don't think any one of us truly know what player will give us the most for our pick until years from now. maybe years from now MIng will dominate the POST-SHAQ era, maybe he will have an impact right away or maybe never. But I think you can find a SF a whole lot easier than you can find an agile big man.Ming will get stronger, he's eager to learn, and he wants to be an impact player. That's what Steve wants isn't it?Or does he just want another 3 point bomber? If that's the case Ming can do that too.We need a big body in the paint more than another driver and slasher, we already have two of those. If the two we have would concentrate on their defense the SF position would not be such a weakness, to this team. But these guys, like Ming, have facets of their game to strengthen as well. I say you have to give the BIG BOY a chance, they are a dime a dozen, especially 7'5 guys who can run the court.Inside scoring is our biggest necessity. Draft the big boy and bring in a defensive SF.

THANKS FOR READING MY TAKE ON THE SITUATION.I KNOW WE ARE ALL FULL OF OPINIONS AND I RESPECT THAT CLUTCH GIVES A CHANCE TO GET IT OFF OUR MINDS.

i agree that we do need an intimidator in the middle. a post player wouldnt hurt either.

as for sf, we had a work horse in shandon anderson, and that didnt work out well. we have Tmo who can defent the 3 pretty well considering he was a rook last season. what we need is a spot up shooter that can also defent like (gasp) danny ferry:(

    i hate to say it.
