We've all whipped this dog a hundred times, but let's go for it one more time around. My guess: 17.5 pts. 9.5 rebs. 2.2 blocks 3.5 assists A year like this oughta get him a sniff of the All-Star team. One more guess..... Rockets once again fail to make the playoffs, and win less than 44 games.
I think he damn-near makes the All Star team by default, stats or no stats. That being said I don't know what he'll average since I don't know how JVG's usage of Yao is going to change.

17.4 pts 8.6 rebs 3.8 blks 2.8 asts rockets finish as a 7th seed and lose in the 2nd round to the mavs
I'd be shocked if JVG didn't play him at least 34"/game. The Rockets will ride him like a rented mule this year. If Yao's body holds up, he should have a hey-day most of the time. Everytime I see something about Yao lately it's bad news (bad hip, high BP, tired, too fat, etc., etc., etc.). Do you think his body is up to it?
19.6 pts 8.7 reb 2.5 blk 5.5 ast 2.0 to 37.5 min JVG will feature Yao as the focus with cutters (SF, CM, BN) and 3 pt. shooters (EP, CM, SF, GR, EG). Griff will also get some low block time, but Yao's assist numbers are going to be through the roof. His blocks should go up as JVGs defense is geared to get the big men blocks. We make the 7th seed and fall in a valiant 7 game series with Sacramento. Yao is an all star along with SF.
Now this IMO is someone who has been paying attention. IMO, JVG is going to stress D and transition O (more FB Pts and Pts off TO's) and then get the ball into the post for the half court set. Therefore, I don't see Yao as scoring alot more but facilitating the scoring. I don't foresee a 1on1 Yao clearout. I can foresee weakside player movement and screens, some cuts off of the high post and some kick outs to Pike and Rice when the doubles come. My only disagreement is the assists. I think they're important because Yao is such a great passer for a big man.
17ppg 10rpg 2.5bpg 2.5apg Effectively, Yao's stats from December of last year. And while we're at it... Steve: 23ppg 7apg 5rpg 2spg Cat: 17.5ppg 3apg 3rpg 1.5spg Rockets hold opponents to 91ppg, average 95ppg, and win 47-50 games.
