Last night, watching Portland play, again I am reminded of the reason why we don't have Brandon Roy on our team, and why I ended up disliking JVG as the Houston Rockets Coach. Our team would have quite a different persona if JVG hadn't pressed so hard for us to defeat Minny, there wasn't anything to be gained by the win, only negative ones in as much as we moved down one place in the standings and lost our chance to pick up our number one selection-Brandon Roy- Shame on you JVG!!
So... of all the nights-- including 2 nights before, when, you know, the ROCKETS played Portland, it was last night that gave you a motivation to make another thread about "what might have been" if the Rockets drafted Roy, a topic that has been discussed probably no less than 500 times? Please do tell us what makes it such a special night for you.
Next time you watch Portland and think about what might have been just envision a Blazers swing combo of Roy/Durant. At least that didn't happen.
I know what you're getting at, but considering Portland is an awesome offensive team even with Greg Oden as a big zero on that end, I think he'll end up being the "right" pick for that team. Their ability to improve defensively thanks to Oden is what will get them into the Championship conversation. Another thing to keep in mind: with Durant on board, Roy probably isn't Roy right now.
Let it go. Hey at one point, we could have had a lineup of that consist of Francis, T-Mac, Artest, and Yao. But some things just don't work out as planned.
I am confused.. please educate me (not being sarcastic) how moving down one place that year lost our chance of picking up Brandon Roy?
I mean isn't it decided by lottery? Even if we lost/won that one game, it wouldn't guarantee us the spot ahead of our pick. Am I right?
If I know it correctly, I believe only first 2 spots are lottery while from 3rd-14th pick are ordered according to their record during the season.
Weren't we going to draft him and Portland made the deal to move ahead of us? Give Portland credit, they made the bold move.
You are underrating how much better Durant is. I do like Oden but Pryzbilla is fine and they could have solidified the center position another way. Roy would be the leader and Durant could just play. Neither player is guardable, you could say they are the two toughest perimeter players in the entire league to defend. Combine those two with the way Portland builds their roster with cheap & solid contributors and you have to deal with a perennial contender for the next 10 years.
The win over Denver dropped us from 6th to 8th place. Portland or another team might have been able to outsmart us,but 6th place is where he got picked.
But the team they traded with would have been behind us if we would have lost one more game. Roy was in our sights. JVG is the antichrist as far as I'm concerned.
Why are threads like these allowed to exist but my 'Why T-mac will succeed this season?" thread gets merged with the mega T-mac thread?
Every time I watch the Titans, I think of all the "oh, what might have been!" people who used to whine about what might have been back when the Titans were good. And then I look at the Titans and how bad they suck, and I think of the folly of "oh, what might have been!" since all things rise and fall, and you can go back and regret endlessly, and you can go forward and discover that the other course in life, which looked good for the next 5 years, would have made you suck for the 5 years after that. Love the one you're with, baby. Five years from now, she's a princess.
Agree. No point in stewing over JVG now! Jeez, we already got new challenges ahead (no T-Mac, Yao). Move on man...
