Is there a worse offender of popup ads than Orbitz.com? I see more of them than any other company. In fact I think I see more of them than all the other popups combined. Can this really be effective advertising? I mean, if you saturate a medium SO MUCH that people develop passionate hate for your company, does that really improve sales? Hell, I don't even know what Orbitz sells, or what services they provide, but I know that if I ever met the guy that started the company I would sew his testicles to the inside of his mouth and pour tabasco sauce in his eyes.
Use Netscape 7.02. All pop ups can be blocked. Great stuff! Although I do like playing those games they have in the ads.
Use the Proxomatron. It's great web filtering software that not only stops pop-ups but does a whole bunch of COOL stuff as well (like enable right-clicking when sites disable it, hide your browsers identity from nosey sites, etc...). Caution: It's not for beginners and you might have to hunt it down but if you can find it, it's worth it. Here is a link with info about it, but you'll have to Google it to find it: Proxomitron info at TechTV
I use a pop-up stopper as well, but it's the concept of needing a pop-up stopper that pisses me off.... .... but even worse.... ...are the horrible, horrible Flash ads that splash across the content of a web page, or flicker annoyingly on the side of the page. Please Lord in Heaven, let the next version of Flash player have the ability to block things like that! -- droxford
