I am not a sooner fan, but for the past 2 years I was watching Edwardo carry his team. And when the Rockets anounced that they had drafted Edwardo I literally jumped out of my chair and cheered. I went to inform everyone in my house who as well like the guy. Then I came back and I heard that Edwardo had been traded. This was to me as big a blow as the Rockets bypassing Rashard Lewis. And let this thing be clear. Edwardo's game against the Rockets was not out of the ordinary for what Edwardo did all of his stellar career at Oklahoma. Who said that Edwardo was too small? Who said that Edwardo was a tweener? Obviously it was Rudy! Dallas will thrive with the marketing it will receive in Mexico. And they don't lose a spot to a scrap player in return. They actually have a player to show for it. Well, even if Langi plays great in the future. I still would have prefered Edwardo. I dont know Edwardo but Eduardo Najera is a fine player on the mavs. ------------------ "You look a team that's been to the mountaintop like the Houston Rockets, I'm going to put pressure on myself to be the best possible player that I can be. With the pieces they already have in place and myself, we can do some amazing things next season." Maurice Taylor
This just in: It's a PRESEASON game. It doesn't count and neither do his stats. I'm not saying he's a dud by any means but let the season play out first before coming down on Rudy about this one. On this squad he probably would have gotten about as much time as Langhi tonight. Btw, anyone know what was up with Carlos Rogers? Old School ------------------ Just Build It!
I've watched him play here against Texas A&M and he was relentless. The Aggies beat OU the year he led them to the Sweet Sixteen. He has heart and fire. I really didn't think he fit into the Rockets system but how can you pass up on a guy with heart. I still like Langhi though. Najera will be a solid bench player for years to come. When I think of Eduardo the first name to come to mind is Mario Elie(Houston) and Chris Gatling. He plays hard like Elie and scores like Gatling. ------------------

Didn't Cato have like nine blocks in a preseason game last year, and everyone was predicting that he'd break Hakeem's blocked shots record? This is the same type of thing. It means nothing. ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel-boy.
Reality 101 - anybody want to predict how many times in the 82 game season Najera will outscore Finley? ------------------ GATER

Hmmm . . . So much sarcasim. Someone states their opinion and he gets flamed. I suppose that could explain why this board is starting to have so much babbling non-sense. ------------------ ...out with the old, in with the new...
I think that Najera overachieved a great deal tonight. Personally, I think he was getting even at the Rockets for trading him on game day for Langhi. He will even out as the season progresses. I am beginning to see what people were saying about him being dirty. There was one play where he went up for a layup, with Cato contesting, and he just threw his off arm right into Cato's face. Of course, Cato was called for the foul. ------------------ "Nothing is certain but the unforseen." Some Dude
Care to guess how many times he'll outscore Collier? ------------------ I got nothin'. [This message has been edited by Dr of Dunk (edited October 11, 2000).]
When I think of Najera, which I don't, the first name to come to mind is Bill Hanzlik. When he's done, neither Hanzlik or Najera will belong on the same floor as Langhi. ------------------ Not only have the Drew bashers crossed the line, but they've sprinted a couple of miles beyond it.
Remember the time Sleepy Floyd went off for like 58 points or something? Wow, imagine if some people saw him for the first time that night. He'd be in the hall of fame now, and have his name mentioned with Wilt, MJ, and Kareem. ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
Its preseason people. Cato looked like an All Star last year in preseason. I still think Langhi is the better player. Najera is a little b*tch, he should play for the Jazz. ------------------
Well vince I was as happy when he was traded as you were when he was drafted. I don't want anyone that plays with his style on the Rockets. Standing up for yourself is one thing, but taking cheap shots that cut players careers short is not needed. Dooling will remember him when they play, Najera put him out for 5-6 games with a concussion. Forearm to the back of the head while dooling went for a layup on a break away. I care less what kind of player he becomes his style will stay the same. I would not have wanted Rodman and don't want this guy. ------------------
His tactics kind of reminded you of Rodman too huh?? Slamming the ball down on the court and going over the back repeatedly won't fly when they come play in Houston. ------------------ Too often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures. A small excerpt from a Dallas Morning News article talking about Najera and what his former coach thought: Najera's gritty play in his first game earned a standing ovation from the crowd at Reunion Arena when he fouled out in the fourth quarter. One of the fans was Najera's college coach at Oklahoma, Kelvin Sampson. "This is a great, great start," Sampson said. "To see him do this at this level - at the highest level in the world - makes my heart proud." UMM...HELLO? I hardly call the pre-season slop game last night the highest level in the world. Keep your pants on there, coach! Surf ------------------
We ought to trade that Steve Francis character. His shooting was abysmal (6-19) plus he committed an unsightly 6 turnovers, not to mention committing a bonehead foul with 2.7 seconds left that cost them the game. What were the Rockets thinking when they traded the backbone of the franchise (Harrington) and the cornerstone for years to come (Dickerson) for that clown. Perhaps they ought to trade Francis straight up for Najera? Nahhh, Dallas would never do it, clearly Najera is an All Star for the next 10 years and Francis simply a flash in the pan based on last night's game. ------------------
You're right Bobrek, and who is this Duncan guy who the Spurs are paying millions for? He only had 8 points and 4 boards last night. What a bust! ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
