Villasuck is the worst ever. Ever. I don't know if the stats suggest it, but I don't care. I'm so glad that guy got sent down.
hmm...have to question why this move is occurring now? oscar should have been released a long time ago.
finally oscar is sent down. he needs some work. i thought it was a good offseason move to bring him in cuz he put up decent numbers in atlanta but ever since he got here the baseballs have been flying out of the park
It tell you how bad the pitching is in Round Rock that the Astros called up Dave Bumkowski. He sucks. I think he is worse than Villasuck. I would have called up Jorge Sosa. He has pitched well in Round Rock so far.
Before the season they signed him to a two year/$2.85 mil contract with a third year option for the team. He's not going anywhere for a while. But given all the pitchers that have had longball troubles this year, I wonder if we should put some blame on Dewey Robinson.
I would look to bring in Kiko Calero, Claudio Vargas, or Juan Rincon. This guys have fallen on hard times and were DFA but they have had some sucess. Greater upside than someone like Bumkowski.
I can not believe there is nothing better than Bumf***inblowski to bring up. That guy is a career scrub. I would actually keep Villa-un-rreal over him. Boo to Bumkowski!
Its about time they did something with Homerreal . The guy was making Lima look good . To replace him with Bork, is like replacing a dead battery with a not so dead battery, it still aint gonna do anything for you .
The Astros might actually have to eat his contract because they designated him for assignment and he as to go through waiver...if he clears waivers but refuses assignment the team will have to pay him through '09. And Borkowski, however mediocre he may be, has actually been pitching pretty well since being sent down.
If he refuses the assignment, the Astros are off the hook when it comes to the salary. Nobody is going claim him because of his salary so my guess is he will accept the assignment because he doesn't want to give the money.
Last year Moehler and Borkowski split "Innings Eater in Lost Causes" games. Now Moehler has been perhaps the most consistant starter. Lets hope Bork can do better work this time up.
Bumkowski has pitched real well in the minors...though I would have given Paronto, Perez or Blazek a call instead.
"He basically has three choices," said Astros General Manager Ed Wade. "One would be to accept the assignment to play in Triple-A, an optional assignment. Secondly he could reject the assignment, in which case we would either have to give him his unconditional release or trade him. Third, he could take his free agency, which he's not going to do because in that case he's not going to get paid. He has three days to make his decision." http://houston.astros.mlb.com/news/...t_id=3050626&vkey=news_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou Looks like two of his choices would get him paid and one wouldn't...though I don't understand the difference between rejecting the assignment and getting an unconditional release or choosing free agency...in fact the article kind of contradicts itself too. Whatever he'll probably accept the assignment anyways.
