This is really starting to piss me off. I'm listening to sportsradio here in Utah and they're sitting here talking about Shandon and how much he must "wish" he could come back to Utah. They were talking to Kevin O'Connor and when asked about the situation he said that IF Shandon were to show interest in coming back, they would have to look at what happened in the past as a factor, but that he couldn't REALLY talk about it because Shandon is still under contract. They also said that Shandon was "very unhappy" in Houston. Has anything happened, officially, I mean, to provoke such a statement? Personally, I don't think the guy is happy in Houston--I'm betting he opts out for free agency at the end of the season--but I wasn't aware that anything had happened, at least in the media, which would give others the idea he was unhappy. My opinion is just that--an opinion, and one that is NOT validated with any facts. I am SO sick of Utah media talking about Shandon. If he does leave, I CANNOT see him returning to Salt Lake. I imagine the fans would forgive him quickly--they're a generous bunch in Salt Lake--but I can't see him returning for the same reasons he left. Comments? ------------------ Jazzkiller
Shandon isn't stupid enough to return to that ****house if his life depended on it. Screw anyone who says anything about Shanderson back in Utah. It ain't gonna happen. ------------------ Watch Cat's Corner every Sunday night on Fox 26 news at 9! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ROCKETS!

K--I'm hearing that according to the Houston Chronicle, Feigen is saying that Shandon has said he WILL opt out. Is this a certainty? Jazzfanzz are now talking about the possibility of the Jazz trading Russell for Shandon after the season, and that Shandon actually said that he "missed" playing for Utah. Did I miss something? Did he actually say this? Would you guys pull off a trade like that? What the HELL is going on????? ------------------ Jazzkiller [This message has been edited by slcrocket (edited March 06, 2001).]
Hey I'd trade Russell for Anderson in a heartbeat. I really like Shandon, but flyin'Bryon is just a great defensive player on either 2's or 3's, and he has the little bit extra height that Anderson doesn't have. Plus Bryon can fill it up from the outside with regularity! If the Jazz want to make that trade, then I say go for it! ------------------
Russel for Anderson would be a steal for us IMO. Jazzfan is dumb but I dont think Jazzmanagement is so I dont see that happening. I dont understand why we just dont let Anderson opt out. Cuttino is definitely a better starting 2 for this team, and we could use the money for free agents or a serviceable backup 2. If Shandon wants to stay I think he makes a great backup 2 if we ever find a starting 3. that probably wont happen though, so I guess that is why losing Shandon would be detrimental. ------------------
There have been several quotes from Anderson saying he was happy in Houston. He did say he was spoiled in Utah because going to the playoffs was automatic. Maybe Utah is inferring from that that he misses Utah (and not the playoffs, which is what he was actually referring to)? Anderson also will be opting out of his contract this offseason, which could be interpreted to mean he's unhappy here. But, we knew when he signed he'd opt out after two years to get paid more. I don't think it is an unhappiness, it's just a business decision. They could also be assuming -- like many Rockets fans -- that if he's not scoring many points, he's unhappy with the system or a bad fit in the system or just not a very good player. So they think, if I was scoring 8 ppg I'd leave, so Anderson must be leaving then. I don't think that's true at all. He has said he likes management, he likes his teammates and his situation. Plus, his starting spot is in no danger and he is valued by the coaches and his teammates for his defense and gritty play. What's not to like here? He just needs a raise, that's all. ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
I remember last year when the Rocks didnt make the playoffs he said he was yearning to play. That he expected the Rockets to go to the playoffs when he came...still, I'm not sure he would want to have the torture of going through most of the playoffs only to lose again (like Utah likes to do)...I like shandon..I hope he stays... ------------------ "I hate every ape I see - from chimpan-a to chimpanzee. Juan I agree. Thing is. . . ask anyone what their Raise should be. . . TRUST ME their Supervisor will not agree with the cost. . .so you negotiate . . people kill me by saying he only worth this or that . . .. If you company only gave you a 2% raise and you knew another would give you a 10% raise . . . .what do you do? you weight ya options. . . benefits, atmosphere etc. It's business. . . . why sh*T always gotta be so personal? SA is a hard worker. he does all the little things, and i like him a lot for that. would i trade him for b.russell? of course! anyone would. if we let SA go at the end of the year, who replaces him at the SF spot? there are no good FA SF's out there this off season. he gives defence, rebounding, and assists in transition. i say keep him. ------------------
I guess if Steve would pass the ball to someone other then Cuttino on the fast break, then SA would be happier. I am sure he is not happy with his role, but truthfully, he is not good enough to be a star player.... SA is a role player..PERIOD !!! His jumper is suspect, his dribble is as bad as LHutz spelling, and he frankly has not fit in with this team. I would like him back, but not for much more...he is an Elie type player, but not as good as Elie either. DaDakota ------------------ Go Jazz * http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum3/HTML/011403.html
Don't get me wrong, I love Shandon. However, I am one of those people who think that his game may prosper in a different system. He's a better player than his stats in Houston let on. Ever notice, though, when Dream's leading the charge, Shandon seems to get more involved? Either he's the type of guy who feeds of a big man, or people just aren't looking for him in our offense. I dunno. But if for some reason he ended up leaving Houston, I wouldn't boo him when he came to town. He's a great player & a great guy, and I have nothing but respect for him and his decisions. ------------------ Founding Father of the Refs Suck Club
