Oh man, if the Horns aren't ranked after this, there must be a conspiracy...

There are plenty of less deserving teams ranked . . .

I had a dream that RM95 actually came up with a take.

OU is ranked #4 for a reason, you know.

It's also not easy playing on a half-day's rest.

How far do you think the Horns will go this year?

Anything short of a Sweet Sixteen bid will be a disappointment.

Get ready to be disappointed. The only trip the Horns will be taking after next weekend is back to Austin. They won't lose a heartbreaker, I'm calling it right here, they're gonna get blown away by someone. I have a feeling.

Hey, so I hear spring practice has gotten underway? :D

I don't think anything short of the Sweet Sixteen is a dissapointment, not when the team is so young, if we still had Owens and Evans, yeah, I'd expect Sweet Sixteen - but I just want this team to be competitive.

Huh? Their current four best players are freshmen and sophomores. They've been without their best player for most of the year. They're not even ranked (undeservedly however). How is not making the sweet sixteen a disappointment?

Half-days rest? Please. Dozens of teams are doing that all around the country and are playing hard. I didn't expect the Horns to win, but I really thought that they might've tried.

I'm interested to see where they'll be seeded. They seem to be to be a Top 30 team or so.

    20-11

Losses: 5 to Top 6 teams (2 in OT) (OU, OU, OU, KU, Gonzaga), 3 more to Top 25 teams (AU, OSU, IU), 1 loss to middle teams (Utah), and 2 losses to terrible teams (KSU, A&M)

Big Wins: 2 vs. Top 25 (OSU, Stanford), 5 more vs. Top 50ish (TT, TT, MU, MU, UNLV)

All in all, I think they could be anywhere from 20th to 30th in the country, which would equate to a 6-8 seed. I think they'll get a 7 seed, personally.

I think they should definitely win the first round game and have a real shot at beating the #2 seed in that scenario (Cinci, Oregon?, Alabama, Pitt seem to be the likely candidates).

They did try hard, they just didn't play well, and Oklahoma is a better team and took them out of their game.

Oh, the famous "their effort sucked" argument. Good one ZRB. Can you prove that? Dozens of teams may be playing on a half-day's rest, but how many of them went up against the #4 team in the country? They couldn't make shots, plain and simple. You're going to tell me James Thomas and Mouton simply weren't trying? Bah.

Let's see...how many times did they not get over the screens? How many times did players just drop balls with nobody on them? How many times where there loose balls with no UT players jumping for them? My favorite was when there was a loose ball with all five UT players and ONE OU player around it, and the OU player came up with it while four of the five UT players had their fingers (and apparantly your's too) up their asses.

But let's say for a minute this team did try hard (which if this is your idea of playing hard...****, that's just sad), there's no way a top 25 team would get their asses kicked this bad by the same team for 115 out of 125 (EDIT: BAD MATH) this season. UT is in no way a top 25 team. Two wins over Tech and one over OSU and Stanford (all of which are probably a little overrated) does not a top 25 team make.

Thats not lack of effort - thats just playing poorly.

Say what you will about this team, but they always play hard. They don't always play well. But they always play hard.

Let's see which of these two explanations for UT's loss today sounds more reasonable:

    1) Knowing they were facing losing 3 times this year to the same team, and playing for a chance at the Big 12 championship game, they decided "heck, let's just not try today"

    or

    2) UT played a tough game against Missouri late last night, then had to come out and play the #4 team in the country at 3pm the next day.

As always, we'll let the audience decide.

How is taking the #4 team in the country to overtime classify as 'getting their asses kicked bad'?

Convenient how Stanford, Tech, and OSU are overrated for the purposes of this discussion.

OSU is overrated to nearly every UT fan except when we discuss the fact we've beat them. Most people I know believe that OSU is an overrated team.

If 18 and 19 year olds are too damn out of shape to where they can't play decent at all after 16 hours of rest, then something's wrong. I guess the two and a half extra hours that OU got really made all the difference in the world. How would you explain KSU and Missouri yesterday. They had to play the day before, and both of them took their opponents close to the wire.

BTW, when I said 115 out of 125 minutes (bad math in original post), that took into consideration that they played good against OU for the last five minutes and OT at home. For the first 35 minutes of that game, the 40 minutes of the game two weeks ago, and 40 minutes, they got their asses handed to them.

Anyway you cut it, this team is not very good. There's no way a team, I don't care if you're #4 or #204, should get that many open looks. The Horns didn't try very hard today. If dropping balls, not jumping for loose balls, and dribbling them out of bounds equates playing hard, again, ****, that's sad.

Will you at least promise to stop saying they're a top 25 team after they get beat in the first round?

That doesn't have anything to do with effort though - when Deginald Erskin lost that ball on the fastbreak in the second half, that wasn't lack of effort, it was that he just didn't play well.

They tried hard, but they played poorly, because OU is a better team and a team that matches up with Texas extremely well(they do everything we do, just better).

I don't expect to beat the No. 4 team in the country on the road, I ask that they play hard, and they did.

As far as OSU, w/o a healthy Maurice Baker, they're nothing. Baker is the straw that stirs that drink.

Well, how do you explain not hustling after loose balls, then? That has nothing to do with playing well, that has everything to do with playing hard.

Regardless of whether or not you think they played hard today, this game proved that they are not deserving of a top 25 ranking...like it matters anyway. I don't care if they were playing the #4 team in the nation with a little bit less rest than them, they played like ass, and most of it was not the result of the fact that they were playing the #4 team.

Then take away one of our key wins then. :)

Ah, but add one for beating Missouri with a hot Kareem Rush in a hostile environment and it evens out.

So you think top 25 teams never play bad / without effort?
