Football season is officially here!!! I know it's only Colorado St. @ UVa, but it's something and it's official.

Check our website soon for my top 25 and predictions for every conference and BCS bowls.

My fearless prediction: the UT/A&M game in Austin after Thanksgiving will be for the Big XII South title.

Is it on TV here...? There was some talk that FOXSports South had picked it up, and since we get FOXSports Southwest, no one's sure if it's on in Austin or not.

Go Bears! (I don't mean Baylor either) :)

I am looking forward to the college season, it is a good warm-up on Saturdays for the real games on Sunday.

Lucky! Those of us without the digital package will have to wait until tomorrow night (Fresno @ Wisc) for our first college football action.

Saturday is lining up to be a great day:

    1:30 - Texas Tech @ Ohio State

    6:45 - Arizona St. @ Nebraska

    7:00 - Miami @ Houston (NFL Preseason)

7:30 - Iowa St. @ Florida St. (Kansas City)

Saturday should be lots of fun. I'll be pulling for all the Big XII teams this weekend. Imagine if TTU or ISU pull the upset this weekend. That would boost our SOS like crazy.

My vote's for Iowa St. They've got FSU early and at a neutral field. TTU, as much as I think they'll be really good this year, will crumble with 100,000 fans screaming against them.

Plus the Buckeyes have had ample time to plan for the TT pass-happy attack. Tech should be able to move the ball some, but the OSU o-line should dominate the TT front 7. Bucks win by 21+

Tech's offense works well against crappy teams like Baylor, but is very ineffective against better teams. The only reason Kingsbury had a 70% completion percentage last year is because he threw all those dinky 3-4 yard passes instead of handing the ball off. Tech will be seriously overmatched this Saturday, but, hell, if OSU can beat OU in Norman, then I guess anything is possible.

Can you imagine what would happen if Tech won in Columbus? Tech fans already have Kingsbury penciled in for the Heisman, and with a win Saturday they will write themselves in as National Champions after Week 1.

Iowa State is my favorite team in the Big 12 North. I'm hoping Florida St. takes them lightly and gets burned.

Agreed on the Tech offense, but who knows? Leach may open it up a bit more this year since it isn't their first year in the system.

OSU apparently has some super-stud true freshman RB (name?)who'll be starting - something Archie Griffin & Eddie George didn't do. Pretty impressive.

No doubt, Tech could win this game. Anything is possible, some things are just more likely to occur. Anyone know what the line is?

Is there any truth to the rumor of Houston and Baylor switching divisions in a couple of years? Houston in the Big 12 would be nice --- tough for baylor though as they are a constant threat to win the B 12. (...puff ...exhale):D

I've heard this discussed from time to time...but as I understand it, the conference can't simply vote to switch someone out....the school would have to agree to it...and I don't think you'll see the folks at Baylor doing that anytime soon. They're not competitive in football, but they do bring up the conference GPA, as I understand it. And they're damn competitive (like conference champs) in baseball and have a basketball program that's clearly improving. Every conference has to have a Vanderbilt! :)

Very unlikely...never heard this one yet. I expect conferences to stay the same until the BCS contract runs out in 2006. The rumors I've heard involve the Big East and ACC disbanding to form superconferences.

The Big East voted Temple out last year (against Temple's will) so it might be possible for the Big 12 to give Baylor the boot, but right now there is no suitable replacement for the Bears.

The Big 12 would not have any interest in Houston in the first place, but even speaking hypothetically, Texas would never allow UH in the conference after the debacle last year.

I'd be flat-out stunned if UT ever schedules Houston again.
