Sweet rant, bro. Tell us how you really feel. I saw Odd Future twice at SXSW and they were mediocre musically, and threw tantrums like four year olds. But everyone and their mother was talking about them. Pass.

Saw them at Coachella and after going on 30 minutes late, they were terrible. The tent was packed at the start of their set and had thinned out considerably a few songs into it.
Justifiable rant, they are swagger jackers playing to the alternative crowd. I see they carry around skateboards and can barely skate, it's like an accessory to them, that's how you know they're some imposters just trying to make a buck off of shock value, which they can if they work hard enough which is all they got going for them IMO. To see why they arent as original as they claim, y'all look up their fellow Cali rapper Hopsin, who can really skate, and spits some grotesque lyrics. He's a better version of them, and doesn't wear the skinny jeans.
Sorry, but what people actually care about whether a musical artist can really skate or not, or whether they wear skinny jeans for that matter? Is it just the under 17 crowd? I guess it's a necessary evil for artists that they have to create an image to try to differentiate themselves, get publicity, etc., but I've never understood critiquing an artist on anything but the music.
Sorry I forgot to mention that I find that odd futures image precedes their music, and went off on a rant. But you said it yourself, they have to create an image to garner attention, and if their image is clearly false, then what does that say about the music? That it isn't as "real" as it should be. Hip hop is all about being true to yourself, these guys are fake. And their music is full of beats with poor sampling , simple rhyme schemes, no wordplay, just filler and imagery that is clearly just for shock value.
i like some of their songs... even if all there is to the music is shock value. relax they'll be a flash in the pan.
I remember seeing an interview with these guys, awhile back. I didn't know their music or persona (if you could call it that)...but they acted very rude and their immaturity was cringe worthy.
It's good to branch out and be creative. But Odd Future. Lmao. That's just taking it a little too far.
