Offseason/Deadline Moves we should do 1.Trade KT/Willis+The Pick they own us For K.Clark . 2.Sign Lewis in exchange For Taylor and Mobley (Add Mooch for one of those deals if it doesnt work out). 3.Trade Our Lottery Pick for Lamar Odom. 4. We got at least 3 second round picks this year so we should : A. Take Haslem/L.Baxter (Great strengh that would help us with a guy like Griffin). B. We need a true pg T.Maddox would be a great option if he would be available. 5.Sign all of them for long contracts. 6.Move Rudy to GM and Hire Dunleavy as our new Head Coach. 7.Win A Championship !!! The Lineup Would be : Clark/Cato Griffin/*Haslem (or another strong pf) Lewis/T-Mo Francis/Torres Odom/Mooch /*T.Maddox (Or another decent true point gurad ) IR: Rice,Collier,T.Brown This trade is also good for Seattle and Toronto . Seatle Lineup : Payton/S.Williams (Mooch) Mobley/D.Mason Barry/Radmanovic Taylor/C.Booth Baker/J.James Toronto Lineup : Hakeem/Willis A.Davis/J.Williams K.Thomas/M.Peterson Vince/D.Curry A.Williams/Childs (Mooch) After the draft both of those teams would look even better and we got for ourself a nucleus that could play at least 10 years together .Every player in our team got the potential to be a super-star (some of them already are ) ,we also got great role players and this lineup could easily take the title every year.
CD and Rudy have pulled some great trades in the past, and some bonehead ones, but even that is too far-fetched. AS much as I would like to see some of those moves (#2, #3, #7), but as for the rest of it I'm not sure.
As much as I appreciate the thought you put into this post, I have to say that most of these moves involving other teams seem very one-sided to me... 1) There is no way the Raptors make this trade...Getting Clark for Willis + was seen as Grunwald's biggest steal ( if you discount getting Carter from G-State, but that's different) BEFORE Clark exploded this year, and when Willis was a year younger...This just makes no sense from their point of view, and I greatly disagree that it would make them better. The pick they owe us will be a very late 1st rounder, hardly compensation...Yes, I know Clark is a restricted free agent after this year, but A) They have the right to match, as we will with Stevie, and B) They either want to sign him as part of their future, or get a lot for him ( Moves involving he and others for Odom, or Clark straight up for Bonzi Wells have been discussed.) 2)This one is the closest to fair value, but still wouldn't happen...In addition to the fact that Seattle wants to build their future around Lewis, ( something he may or may not turn out to live up to, but he's certainly got more of a chance to be a franchise player than Mobley of Thomas, and Seattle's not looking to just get by), it wouldn't be the smartest move with Francis' decision time coming up.. 3) Unless we get a really high pick, the Clipps could get a lot more for Odom elsewhere, and besides, they've already got all kinds of picks coming there way, which is part of the reason they were looking to make a move like they did this off-season for Brand...If anything, the CLipps are looking to get established players... 6) Dunleavy is rumored to be offered complete control in places like Denver and NY, something he is really looking for after having his hands tied in Portland..Why would he come here to be under someone else, not to mention a guy who loves coaching? Just my thoughts on yours, but I will say that, were your suggested moves to come true, we'd be in extremely good shape...
Kenny to Utah for Andrei Kirilenko? Kenny to Denver for James Posey? Kenny to Chicago for Ron Artest? Kenny to Seattle for Desmond Mason? Kenny to LA Lakers for Devean George + their first rounder? Kenny + Terrance + Oscar to Memphis for Michael Dickerson? Kenny + Walt + Kevin + Jason + Terrance to Orlando for Grant Hill?
The only one I like, and would help both teams, is Devean george from the Lakers. But Phil doesn't like to mess with chemistry at this point in the season, so he might not do it.
I would love to get Kirilenko. That guy is a block and steal machine... Artest isn't bad either...but kind of injury-prone. I think either guy would solve our SF problems.
I wouldn't give up Mobley alone for Lewis, let alone both of them. Franchise player? What are you smoking? Lewis 16.8 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.4 spg, 0.6 bpg Mobley 19.9 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.4 spg, 0.5 bpg Taylor (Last Season) 13.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg, 0.4 spg, 0.55 bpg While Lewis is clearly better than Taylor statistically, Mobley has better stats. Mobley also manages to draw double teams while Lewis is more the beneficiary of double teams drawn by Payton. Not only that, but you want to give them Moochie as well. I say throw the MCE at Lewis. If he takes it, fine. If not, draft Dunleavy to play SF.
Lewis is also 5 years younger than Cat and is still improving while it's arguable that Cat has peaked. I would do that trade except for the fact that it would really piss off Steve.
Actually, all of Rashard's shooting percentages are down from last season. Mobley's 3pt% has gone up significantly since last year. He has also improved in assist, steals, and blocks. Maybe Rashard is not improving as much as you might think, and Mobley has still not reached his potential.
IMO, any premature trade of our #1 could cost us a potential franchise player like Yao Ming (Ming Yao?). Let's not be so eager to change things for the sake of change. If Griffin needed more time, I'd say keep Kenny Thomas. However, KT is the odd man out with the logjam at PF. So, if we do anything, we trade KT and/or Walt Williams for another first rounder to package for a move further up in the next draft to acquire a defensive deadeye at SF or please, please, Ming the Merciless.
Why does everyone assume Dunleavy's going to be in the NBA draft this year? He's said repeatedly he's going to stay for his Senior season and wants to enjoy his time at Duke. I highly doubt that he's going to come out this year, especially when he can be the primary option once Jason Williams leaves and he'll be able to up his draft position even more.
