Steve Javie hasn't ever done anything to piss me off, so he must be a good ref. :p

The other two, I have no idea about...

Van Gundy has said that Javie is the best ref in the league, FWIW. He's pretty above the fray as far as I can tell and won't get emotionally involved.

I always say the best referees are the ones whose names you barely know.

As far as I can remember, I have no issues with these guys, although Garretson has always annoyed me a little just because of his looks. Javie is notorious for some, but I don't really get a negative vibe from him. Corbin is under the radar for me. All in all it seems like a good bunch.

Yay. Refs are only half the battle. Now we have a fair fight and the rest is up to the team. They don't have reason to complain about bias now.

Isn't Javie quick to blow the whistle if players give him the least bit of grief? He's not on the Joey Crawford level, but I think he's somewhere near.

garretson looks like he'd have a bit of the short man's syndrome.

That is a really good crew, imho. Not a questionable one among the bunch.

There is something to be said for a crew that no one remembers when the game is over. They should all strive to be that way.

He use to be, but I think he's either relaxed in recent years or was reprimanded, but he's cut back quite a bit.

Well, that's definitely good to know. I want Ron-Ron to be able to play with a ton of passion. It's good for him if it's directed in the right way...like SHUTTING DOWN Kobe completely. :)

Don't know much about Corbin which is a good thing; however, I do know both Javie and Garretson. Javie has a reputation of being one of the best refs in the NBA and as Visagial said, he won't get emotionally involved. He used to be really quick to tee someone up but I think he has mellowed on that in recent years. Garretson is known for 2 things - his father used to be like the main guy for NBA officials (like the supervisor or so) so you can see why he became an NBA ref, it's in his blood. The other thing he is known for was the Nick Van Exel incident. Back in the 90's when Van Exel was with the Lakers, he got upset with Garretson over a call (or non-call) and bumrushed him. Nick the quick made contact with Garretson and I'll never forget the look that Ron gave him - it was one of those, "You want a piece of me?? A piece of ME??!!". Van Exel got a huge suspension out of it. For a time, that incident sorta gave the impression or idea that Garretson was like a Joey Crawford but that isn't the case. Like Javie, he is very good and sound and won't get emotionally involved unless someone bumrushes him, lol.

Hasn't Yao complained about Garretson in the past? I seem to remember the two of them having issues.

I think Javie is a good referee, at much fair than Joey. The league feel the pressure of the media and Rockets.
