And that was my point when everyone on here was hoping we played KC. So once again, down 1-0 would you want to be facing Lugo and Wacha, or this rag tag bunch we are gonna face with Detroit? Both teams offensive production is pretty underwhelming coming into these playoffs. Detroit probably the advantage in the pen (although truth be told KC looked a lot better today).
One last aspect of the bunt decision, if we're playing for extras probably not a good idea as the Astros have one of the worst records in extras since the rule change. Even at home we're really bad at it.
In that situation I had no problem with it. And it was about 5 inches from working out and then some.
Pro Bunt. The back end of the lineup. I can't realistically have faith we get two hits to tie it. I can realistically hope for one. It didn't happen. And that just proves the point about the back end of our lineup. They were 1-13 tonight. And that's the norm.
Sure, but the new rules don't apply in the postseason. No Manfred man. The Astros are 4-1 in postseason extras in the dynasty era.
What a master stroke to get King in the Soto deal. Then the Adam and Scott trades at the deadline. Preller has my vote for GM of the year.
By the way, I'm sure it's already been said, but why the hell is Michael Kay calling games? Zero energy. It was like it was the second game of a double-header in June. ESPN does so little to promote and showcase their MLB games, unless it's the Red Sox, Yankees, or Dodgers.
Ah, I keep forgetting. Yep then the smart money is to find a way to get to extras. So I'm good with it.
I hear you. I'm just saying any last laugh should happen towards Manfred not the Astros. We already lost an awesome GM and draft picks. Now we gotta lose to Hinch too? Well damn We just lost to luckiest team in MLB history last season behind in-house sabotage.
So AJ is going with an opener tomorrow. Holton is another lefty and is really good but he's pitched 3 innings only 4 times in 66 appearances. My guess is he'll see our lineup once and then get pulled. Depending on the score, we will either see his next best options come into the game or try to get by with a lesser option to keep the game close.
Gotta hit whoever is pitching. Numbers go in the trash can. This is what it’s all about. Astros win big 2 in a row
