All series talk goes in here. Non series talk goes somewhere else. No PBP, that can be found from other sources if you need it. All games are broadcast on AT&T Sports SW unless otherwise noted. 6-17 Lucas Giolito (R) vs. Framber Valdez (L) 7:10 Apple TV+ only 6-18 Johnny Cueto (R) vs. Justin Verlander (R) 3:10 6-19 Lance Lynn (R) vs. Cristian Javier (R) 6:08 ESPN only
I would say Framber should plunk the first hitter right between the numbers and watch LaRussa lose his mind but 1) the umps would toss him after 1 pitch and no warnings 2) it's an advantage for LaRussa to NOT get tossed 3) Framber's pitches have so much movement it would probably hit the umpire.
I have a love/hate relationship with the Apple TV games. Since I don't have cable, they and the nationally televised games are the only ones I get to watch. But man does Apple TV make it hard. So very, very hard.
Translation... I can suck as much as I want and I still get to play tomorrow because my backup sucks even more....
Outside of Altuve and Brantley, current Stros have absolutely sucked (and I mean like really, really sucked) vs Giolito. https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/32697/lucas-giolito
Besides for Maldy, all the other Astros have the majority of their PAs against Giolito during the period of time that Giolito had a lot of spin on his pitches. Giolito's stats are weird. He's still getting Ks and he's still got an ERA less than 4, but he's giving up hits, a lot of hard hits, a lot of line drives, and a lot of homers.
Sorry. My bad. I forgot to mention what my motives were. To me getting Bregman going is the single biggest need this team has for making a World Series run. Bregman is hitting .163 w/ .555 OPS vs LHP He is .244 w/ .775 OPS vs RHP So I hope 3 games vs RHP gives him a solid series to build on: 4-5 hits a HR to break the drought, etc. Then when he is a bit better off he can tackle a lefty lol
