Woooo weeee let’s go! Tradition at my house is I pick up some BBQ for week 1 and bring it home. So I will. The twist this year is that after the Texans kick ass I’m heading downtown with my sons to see Gambino at Toyota Center and I’m so pumped!
Why? Embrace the hype son. We're winning 12 or more this year. And we sure as hell CAN beat the Colts.
My hope is the offense is lights out early. I'm pretty confident they'll be good at some point in the game, but if we jump out to a quick lead, the Colts might not lean into their run game as heavily, which just plays into our defensive game plan even more. But either way, if our offense and defense play up to their potential, we should win this game easily.
I wasn't critiquing your post at all, and I didn't make the post you responded to. I was just pointing out that a hot hand is a real phenomenon and the original paper disproving a hot hand was wrong. I get the point you are making and agree with it, but that is really the gambler's fallacy, and the infographic mislabled it as the hot hand fallacy (which is not a fallacy anymore).
I know you don't want to heap things on a rookie, but since we are running with only 2 QBs on the roster this season, Cam Akers might be our best Emergency QB option with over 8000 passing yards in high school with a nearly even split with running yards. Of course we wouldn't want it to happen, but it's nice to know we have someone who has taken snaps under center in the past. Perhaps it is even the reason for the extra RB on the 53 after they backed off on the unlimited emergency QB expected. Anybody else have QB experience? I realize he's not an NFL rookie, but he is with the Texans. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cam_Akers
The hot hand is a fallacy ONLY if the outcomes are entirely random. Games of skill are certainly NOT in that category.
I got mine and wore it during third pre-season game.... have to be careful because of first word. (I used a band aid to cover up everything after the logo )
